    Default FTP program

Ok I'm kinda new to this,

What I am trying to do is copy the same files into multiple folders

I usually just copy them from my pc to the folder, but this takes a few minutes

If we use the ftp from the hosting site we can copy the files in 20 seconds.

Surely there is an ftp which will allow me to copy them from one folder to the other. It seems all I can do is move the files from one location to a different location, not copy them.

I have copied the files direct to my server, but when I move them, they obviously disappear from my original folder.

Which ftp software has a copy command?

    Thanks in advance.

    I use CuteFTP Pro

You can copy/paste and leave a copy on the server, or just move.

    Lots of options.

    It's very versatile.

Yes we can do it via the hosting, but it takes a while longer to go through that way,
    I'll give cuteftp a go.

If you're moving files to/from a remote server to/from local computer, you'll be limited by your internet plan speeds.

Are you using a full version or just a demo?

I just right click on the files, select copy and right click where I want the copied files to go and select paste.

I'm assuming you set up the site manager and local drives in the program first?

I may be right out of left field here, so please ignore me if I got this wrong. All you want to do is copy files to different folders on the same machine, right? If so, read on.
Select the files you wish to copy press the <ctrl> button and click and drag to your hearts content.

If that is the case, would a shortcut to the original file not be better placed in the separate folders so that you only have one source file to update?

Yes I'm trying to copy files from remote server to remote server, I can transfer the files from local computer to remote server takes a couple of minutes, I can also copy remote server to remote server through cpanel which takes 10 seconds.
The problem is accessing cpanel, my virus detector, gives me certificate warmimg etc and plus doesn't remember passwords.

Basically I want to transfers files from to
When I use the ftp it only likes to move them meaning they disappear from 12345

There seems to be a few people with the same problem, I like flash fxtp and they said you can somehow do it via the tree structure, but I can't get the correct folder to stay open to move them.

For many years I have used FlashFXP to transfer files and directories/folders over a network, both LAN and WAN (internet).

    It is available from

The version I use is fairly old - version 3.3.5 and is a 'full' version, not demo.

I use the transfer function (right click) to 'copy' (the original file/directory will remain on the source computer) a file from one computer/server to another.

I also use the program to edit files in a remote location.

I use the free software WINSCP

You right click on the folder or file and choose duplicate and choose where you want to duplicate it to. It's instant.
