Clean the laser before going further, use a loupe or magnifying glass (LASER OFF _ POWER OFF) dont use metho ! only isopropyl or glasses cleaning spray on a cotton bud.

People check the laser first regularly, but if you have a multimeter, you can check other components easily.
    Is it OK now?

Default ps3 not reading any type of disc after firmware update

    hi to all,
i have a 60gig ps3 and all was fine, until one one the games i wanted to play said need to update to later firmware for it to work.
so i did that, all was sucessfull.but after that none of the discs would work again.
sent the unit into sony and they told me it needed to be reflashed for it to work again.this was going to cost a fixed fee of $395.
so was it the firmware that stuffed it up. i leave for you to figure out.

Interesting as Sony had been honoring warranty on all flashing failures last I heard. You might want to complain about that rather loudly due to the updates being a known problem.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Just as a starter, ensure that the sled worm drive lever thingy is the metal spring type, not the white plastic one. The plastic lever warps and slips teeth, and the sled doesn't operate the home switch.
    Cheers.
