In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.
Excel should just import it correctly if it is a csv. You might have to change the extension to filename.csv.

That's exactly the way I did it.
Save the txt file as a csv then open in excel, on save as xlsx.
The problem is you lose all the leading zeros on the phone numbers as soon as you open it in excel.
You can overcome this by inserting a ' in front of the leading zero - but it's a bit of annoying editing.
Cheers

Phil, an alternative would have been to set the cell format by selecting the "Number" tab, then selecting "Custom" under Category, then under "Type:" enter 10 zeros and any spaces you may want to include;
