    Default Telstra phone line box

Hi does anyone know what this Telstra box is. It seems to have phone lines going to it and has T8 on it (as in pics). Thanks.

What sort of building is it in? An office or a home? I suspect it might be a small PABX or controller for intercom phone system. I've been out of the game for too long to be more accurate. Someone who still works in the industry might be a little more knowlegeable.

It's a main equipment box for a phone system.

I'm guessing all the handsets have been removed but the main box was left.

I can remember seeing similar enclosures installed in various offices/business establishments in my travels of yesteryear.

The logo on the front of the unit appears to be that used by Telstra's predecessor, Telecom Australia.

    I agree with mtv's conclusion.

It would either be a very basic line switcher or more likely a battery unit/power supply for a another part of a bigger system.
Either way, it is legacy and bringing in a licensed cabler would be the next move and get rid of it. There is no need anymore for multiple lines and old PABX systems along with the prices attached.
