In case John Average upgrades to Windows 10 via GWX (AKA Windows 10 Free Upgrade) the "Windows 10 Setup" automatically is copied to %SYSTEMDRIVE%\$Windows.~WS\Sources\Windows, so he also has a hardcopy of the Windows 10 installation files.

You really are a wanker, you mean the option you vowed and declared & squealed like a stuck pig that it would never happen, and now that it has, the best you can do is to say that it takes longer, unfvckingbelievable.... You just can't help yourself can you troll....

After manually updating my (Legit) primary and (Not so Legit) secondary PC's I decided to leave my HP Zbook 17" laptop for the Windows update application.
From what I read here many users have enjoyed the auto download already.
My lappy's still sitting here ............... waiting.
I wonder what it is that defines who gets what & when ??
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

The mentioned folder %SYSTEMDRIVE%\$Windows.~WS\Sources\Windows houses file install.esd which contains the usual Windows install.wim file (WIM = Windows Imaging), encrypted and compressed. Install.wim file in its turn contains everything needed for a complete Windows installation.
If needed for a clean install, one has to convert this install.esd into an ISO and burn it onto a bootable / installable storage media. How to .

There is no denying it was your merit to have pointed out that the "MediaCreationTool for Windows 10" ( which dates from 29.07.2015 !!! ) allows for an upgrade, too.
Until time of this writing one can use "MediaCreationTool for Windows 10" also to upgrade an existing Windows 7 & Windows 8 edition.
And remember I've never said Microsoft will NOT provide Windows 10 ISOs outside GWX. Now since weeks don't understand why you in choleric manner this always try to foist me.
Hours wasted tonight doing this upgrade only to find out there's no drivers for my video card yet, back to Win7 again

Joey, you are really trying to pick flyshit out of pepper aren't you, have a look at post number #74 posted on 07/06/2015 at 09:49 PM
No mention of ISO files there by any chance? No I didn't mention any "MediaCreationTool for Windows 10" I spoke specifically of ISO files, now lets see, what does the tool do? Oh surprise surprise amongst other things it creates ISO files for you to use to upgrade to Windows 10 HOLY CRAP! what a shock.
Post number #76 You say;
Post number #96 The link in the quote I made takes you to Created by Andre Da Costa on January 25th and Last Updated July 9th Where it again clearly mentions you can upgrade either via Windows Update or by using ISO files, yes it is in the Insider Preview section, but as I tried to point out to you it is referring to a first upgrade from a qualifying version of Win7, Win8 or Win 8.1.
Post number #152 I post the links for the tools to create the relevant ISO files if you wished to, and then with the cat completely out of the bag, what do you say, "As always: Has NOTHING to do with the "Windows 10 Free Upgrade", when of course it had everything to do with it, and finally you say this, "Now since weeks don't understand why you in choleric manner this always try to foist me" not well written, but I get the gist of it.
The reason why is simple, you continually and arrogantly speak down to people who would dare to have a differing opinion to you, who would try to explain to you what was happening, and when it came to the subject of upgrading to Win10 using ISO's, because you wasn't the person giving that information, to you it was automatically wrong, frustrating to say the least, you would use any bullshit argument or excuse to qualify your stance, now many here would prefer to sit back and not have their say, and thats fine, some would even be happy to have you speak down to them rather than upset the apple cart, well sorry, not me, you was dribbling bullshit, when I called you on it, you wanted to perpetuate the argument with even more bullshit, you asked why, thats why!

"You can lead a person to knowledge, but you can't make them think? If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
Followed jwoe's post to identify Key number for my Win8.1 pro (originally 8.0) out of curiosity only to find that it does not match the original product key and is not in any way similar, should i be worried, original purchased from Office Works for $50??
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"
If it's a legit key Windows 10 will activate ok.
Try this for your Win 8.1 key:
Has anyone had any issues with security programs under Windows 10 ? Kaspersky Internet Security has simply disappeared from my machine after upgrading to Windows 10.
