Thanks Hoe for the info. Here is another type on eBay are they similar? Anyone purchased one? What type of software do they run, opinions on which is the better unit would be very helpful.

    Cheers,

I would rate these two units as very similar in spec and therefore capability.
You could run pretty much any nav system you choose. I have just bought (yesterday) one of the units from your second link for a very good price.
    Cheers

I'd be interested to know your opinion of it when you get it.

    E610 from savecashforu
It arrived today ! not a bad little unit took a little time to find out how to short curcuit the software loader but now have full access with active sync and with GSFinder.
Overall I'd rate it at 7 out of 10 at the price point of $80.oo ish that I paid.
Wish I could get rid of that start up message about speed camera warning

speed cam message gone!! running TT7 iGO8 Destinator7 polnav all good

Both the units in the links above seem almost the same. The second link gps seems to say in the specs it only accepts up to 2gb cards. Is this right?

I know nussing about these car gps's. Are they all hackable such that you can load the firmwares floating around or only certain models?

Are the ones here in this thread ok or is the one that would be recommended over these?

    Gee they are cheap now!!

You can use other navigation software by below steps
1, Delete the file of "mobilenavigator" from the SD card.
2, Copy the new software file onto the SD card, change the file's name of the new software into "mobilenavigator", then open the file, find the "*.exe" document, change the document's name into "mobilenavigator", then you will be able to use the new software.
Note: Backup the old file before you delete the old navigation software please

I used a slightly diferent approach and made a directory \mobilenavigator and put a copy of windows explorer.exe in it. I then renamed explorer.exe to mobile navigator.exe and so was able to go into explorer . I then put other programs into other directories and was able to select programs using explorer.

However this thread in this forum shows much better ways of doing it:

(hope it is OK to post links to other forums)
    The methods here work brilliantly.

Hey Zubrick, can't understand the language used in the forum. In plain English, how can I achieve this:
