Default Setting up 2nd wireless router

I have just put together a pc for my shed and going to use wifi to connect to household network, current netgear router is at opposite end of house near main pc.
I have a 2nd pc in the downstairs spare bedroom networked by cable to the netgear router, i have a d link wireless router that i want to use with this pc which will also allow wifi access for the shed pc.
I can get the pc connected by lan onto the network but cant get the wifi access to work, i tried this a while ago but now need to revisit so i can get wifi in the shed.

Do you have to have wireless??
Is it too long a run to use
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

the trick is to make sure all are on the same subnet and ip range

alot of people have issues by not re assigning these 2 points into
units they are adding onto an existing network
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Wifi signal is ok but could do with an improvement, should i get one of those 5dbi extended antenna's for the router or one at each end or an external outdoor antenna ? cheaper option is the better option.
