HP DV6 laptop no com ports????

Hi

My HP laptop DV6 for some reason lost com ports??
I had com port 1 now gone I plug in a usb to serial lead in com port
not showing any whwere I tried to search for it ...
Any ideas?

With all the threads you started you vomit every time a completely insufficient description of the hardware you have issues with. :-)

We need more information. What OS? 64 bit? 32 bit? What USB? Are you connected to the internet? What error message do you get?

Apparently he doesn't know of the difference between USB and RS232, which both de facto are serial ports. AFAIK, today computers have USB ports instead of RS232 ports.

did it work before? that is the question
yes = update drivers
no = either the usb to serial lead needs drivers or it dont work with that os
as in card programmer, shop scanners ect that are outdated
