Just found a useful shortcut when performing a file rename operation in Windoze 7. If you are renaming a large group of files then a tool like might be a good tool but, if you are only renaming two or three files then it is a bit of overkill. I have generally just used the <F2> button to rename a file as I go. I discovered tonight, though, that, if, after you have changed the name of the files instead of selecting the next one with the mouse, and pressing <F2> again you can just press the <Tab> key and it saves the change and moves to the next file with the name ready for editing. Much simpler!!!! May work on earlier versions, and, quite likely, later ones too.

Confirmed as working for W8.1 as well. thanks.
EDIT; A handy addition to that, if you are renaming the files with the same long file name + a number, is to copy the first file rename text then Tab & paste the next file rename - backspace & change the number. Saves a bit of typing for long file names.

Absolutely, do that all the time.
