Looks like a sign of things to come.
    80K range, 2hr charge time.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Too bad you can't ride them on the road, I wonder what they'll charge for rego if they get ADR compliance?

Interesting. Two sets of figures given: one for "AU mode" - i.e. limited to 250w and only electrically assisted pedaling and the other mode gives the full 4500w. It says the bike weights 53kg, so 250w will get you absolutely nowhere. At that weight, it's an electric motor bike with pedals.

They weigh a bom as well. I picked up a mountain bike with this type of electric motor recently and it was very heavy!
If you're not going to pedal you may as well buy a yz250.

Default I've been waiting for this to happen

Spoke to a guy in a recent race "Amy Gillet Grand Fondo", he was saying then that you can get hidden motor in hub and batteries that conceal in the frame tubing.
Will be interesting to see what they found in this case.

You certainly can - I guess they're mostly used by cashed up MAMILs who want to go faster than their mates without actually putting the time in to training.

Geez, that's what i needed going up Arthur's Seat last Tuesday. Three years ago all bikes were inspected prior to the start of the Tour de France for motors so they must have had there suspicions then
Richie Porte put out an average 500 watts for 8 (?) minutes going up Warrigah hill in the Tour down under with at times up to 1000 watts when he kicked, averaged 34 KPH on a 8-10% gradient

As a kid I would have loved one of those. I used to ride everywhere flat out so this would have been a bonus. Now I don't ride often enough for it to be of benefit.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

There are some serious electric bikes to be had these days. Some home brew, some off the shelf. Just a shame they can't legally be used on the road.

These are my electric mountain bikes, they fold up, have a range of 40klm without peddling and go anywhere.

It is not my bike. LOL. Perhaps the friend also used a remote to switch on the motor so it can never be proven that she deliberately used it

I am aware that you can hide plenty of 18650's inside the frame but very impressive a powerful motor in the tiny pedal bearing area that also needs to be heavily geared down to get that torque.
Hope to see that on Ebay soon

I saw one recently and the motor is indeed mounted in the rear hub and had it not been for some wires exiting the frame around the pedal area, I would not have guessed it was powered.
The Battery sat in a case between the rear frame bar and back wheel and was painted the same as the bike.

He said it was primarily an 'Electric assist' so except on down hill runs, you still had to pedal.

Years ago when those 'Mopeds' with the petrol engine over the front wheel and driven by friction were around, the cost of the Rego for it was exactly the same as the 500 cc Triumph I had, not cheap considering the difference in power and performance.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

My mountain bikes have the motor in the hub and you can either pedal with the 18 gears or use the motor which has 3 settings.

There have some great looking bikes now.

Its almost like watching a Smart Phone and Tablet merge
