Well, TP-Link really, but its in partnership with Google.
Only having 1 USB port was a bit short sighted. In an effort to make routers easier to use and more compatible with other smart home gadgets, Google has announced its own home gateway router, called the OnHub. The $200 device, which is being made in partnership with Chinese networking-product maker TP-LINK, can be pre-ordered on the Google Play Store, Amazon and, reportedly, Walmart.com. Amazon promises that the device will be released on Aug. 31.
The OnHub is a sleek black or dark-blue cylinder about 7.5 inches tall. Within its cowling are 13 Wi-Fi antennae, offering IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac at speeds up to 1900 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz frequencies. It also has Bluetooth Low Energy, and, interestingly, 802.15.4 connectivity.
Hopefully, being that its TP-Link, versions of Open-WRT will be available for the unit.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Look Here -> |
speeds up to 1900 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz frequencies
what they say and what we get are generally two different things LOL
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Yeah, they don't mention what the client machine is for those speeds.
Looks like Google is trying to take the Complication out of Advanced Router settings and bring to the market a Mum's and Dad's Router.
Or so this video would suggest
At least it doesn't have a dozen flashing blue lights to annoy you like the rest of the pack!
Why it has a build in speaker is anyones guess though.

Not much is said about wifi security. You neighbours may get free wifi....
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
It would be interesting to know what a contract to make a device for Google meant to TP-Link in terms of Sales and Profit.
The product is listed on the TP-Link website for sale (same release time as Google)
Looks nice with no cables attached!?!?
Only has 1 LAN port and 1 WAN port.... Mmmmm where is the 6 Port Giga LAN?
Obviously aimed at the Portable Device market, not so helpful if you have 6 Wired LAN devices.
