Default Streaming via ethernet direct to laptop

Using 500s and Pli Jade I have no problems watching Foxtel/Aurora TV on 15" laptop with Web X TV via router and ethernet LAN connection - 500s with static IP address. In fact this is the first time WebX has worked without glitching (thks pli team).

Want to take the lappy and use this as TV when we go up to Coral Bay WA fishing in a couple of weeks. Only problem is I cannot get direct connection from laptop / 500s working. I understand you cannot use normal ethernet cat5 for connection. Have tried crossover etc but still no go.

Anyone been down this road before, if so your help is appreciated.

You probably have DHCP turned on on your lappy NIC. Give it a static address in the same class are your DM500s. ie. DM 192.168.0.50
Lappy 192.168.0.40 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 you could even point the gateways to each device at the other end.

cheers gado. yep did have DHCP on (on) lappie. Will change this to static and give it a go. Do you know if xover cable are actually marked as xover on cable or marked as patch?

You need a Crossover. The way to check is look at the wires in the connector. Google cat5 pinout to see the wiring in the connectors.

    Here's a link to a site with a diag.
