Sadly I think we have had a number of members drop out since discussions of satellite wound down following the NDS debacle. The nature of these forums changed to some extent. There is still of course plenty of worthwhile technical and hobby discussions, and I think we pretty well all love our gadgets. But my impression, at least, is that there is now a lot more political discussion including discussion of controversial social issues, and more people do tend to become offended and upset. I think these two issues have contributed to quite a few formerly active and respected members cutting back on their posts or leaving altogether. We are the poorer because of this, but times change. Austech is still a great group, and whilst we may violently disagree sometimes we still share our love of technology and gadgets and various hobbies. This is reflected in our concern for members who stop posting without explanation, and I think it is well worthwhile doing this.

Well said, DB44. Times change, and sometimes we let RL get in the way of the serious topic of AUSTECH.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Ah, I never realized one could reply to those. In that case, thank you very much for mine a while back admin.

In cases like the above, they normally post that I am a ####ing arsehole, and that the site and its members can go and get ####ed Its only when that doesnt happen that I get concerned.

Forums are on the decline everywhere, even Whirlpool has noticeably less posts over the last year. Its an almost impossible trend to turn around given how big Facebook is.

F#ck Facebook, I don't like being on it, I can feel all the eyes on me , but it is a convenient way of keeping in contact with family members and friends all around the country, so I guess I weigh up the convenience against my paranoia....
    Cheers

Perhaps I'm showing my age but I have never liked Facebook. I much prefer forums.

    Default Godzilla :)

Sorry for delay getting this job done.
Just got off the phone with Godzilla and he is 100% fine.

He has just committed himself 120% to his new venture and growing his business and honestly just doesn't have the spare time

Anyway, GREAT to hear the legend is ok, i too was concerned.
He started laughing when i said we were all worried, in typical Godzilla fashion, said he will out live all of us

I appreciate that OB. I have been concerned for a while and was about to call him myself....

He's well, that's all that matters.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Some get offended on some site and never come back to that site. When I Drop dead I wont be here any more LOL,LOL and the people I speak to me only via PM's that have limited post will be the first ones to know that I'm dead so whilst I'm here I am enjoying our New Toys, A New large 2017 86 inch 4 K TV and the 4k Dolby Vision Oppo + The Panaa ub 900 (we are Greedy, we worked for it so lets spend it before the Government want more)
