    warning that my computer was infected happened to me for the first time on extratorrent today so scam is still active avg says computer is clean
    wouldn't let me close tab i ended up rebooting computer Scam bypassed ad block plus

    I first encountered this a year or so ago, but with a different variation wherein some "tech support company" will help you "remove the infections" but would charge the heck out of you for them to do so. I think I remember a case wherein the owner's computer was locked out by the "tech guy" after what they call ransomware was installed on the system.

    A reboot, should not have been necessary, Pheggie. Typically, when a recalcitrant script (like that) causes my browser the freeze, my first port of call is right click on the item in the taskbar, often you can close it from there. If that fails, the "three fingered salute" usually works, i.e. .Ctrl><Alt><Del>, then select Task Manager and close your browser from there.
