I just did it too, caused Live mail 2012 to stop working & shut down while it was trying to update calender, rebooted twice with no joy.

Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) could not be uninstalled either! so did system restore to get rid of it for the moment.

    Cheers, Tiny

I wouldn't use Live Mail if you paid me.

I use good old Outlook Express with Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Windows Live mail is only a continuation of Outlook Express under another name & works just as well with a few enhancements, the other Windows Mail prog (Mail) that is embedded in W8-10 is an abomination & that I really don't want to use as it doesn't do POP3 & my ISP doesn't do anything other than POP3 AFAIK.

It wouldn't be a problem except that my ISP addres xxxxxxx@activ8.net.au throws returned mail at forums & gets me admin warnings.
So I use @live.com.au address for forums & I suspect outlook express will have the same problem with sync issues for any Hotmail/Outlook/Live email addresses.
Win Live mail 2012 has been working well for years, now it may be a PIA.
Guess I should just dump the @live address & go @gmail for forums.

Make a small donation and you will get a registration key.

It works well on Windows 10.

As for Live Mail etc, I refuse to make it any easier for companies to gather data regarding my internet activity and hence profit from what I do.

First it was Google, then Apple, and now Microsoft has decided that they too would join the fray by the addition of such things as Cortana and Windows Live (suite) etc. All data-harvesters in the guise of apps for every man's convenience and apps no-one should be without.

All allegedly for the consumers' benefit, but in reality another means to an end for them .... $$$$$.

I really like Windows 8 and Windows 10 and have had no problems whatsoever with either O.S. The many cousins and other family members that come with recent Windows versions, I can well do without.

OK did some digging, the (KB3093594) patch seems to be a major problem for many mostly W10 users.

Workaround is to not sign in to your Outlook Calendar automatically on startup of WLM12.

Windows 8 compatibility mode does not make any difference. The only workaround is not to sign in to update the calendar.
if you sign the calendar out on the toolbar wlm will no longer query the calendar for updates. But if you sign in and click remember me and sign me in automatically it will crash immediately.
Best option is to uncheck remember me and click forget me.
Other theories are the update patch should only apply after the Outlook account has been upgraded by MS?

WLM & the Outlook.com message are valid; the message is just badly timed!

This is the issue: MS is performing an upgrade in waves of Outlook.com accounts. Unfortunately, they jumped too soon to send out this message, and it's crashing WLM if your account hasn't yet been upgraded.

Here's the word (courtesy of Ron Sommer MVP):

Login to your outlook.com account using a browser. Does it say Outlook.com or Outlook Mail (Preview)?

KB3093594 should only be installed if you have an outlook.com account that has been upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview).

If you have more than one outlook.com account, you will have to decide if you want the accounts that have not been upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview) to work or do you want the accounts that have been upgraded to work.

No Outlook Mail (Preview) accounts - do not install KB3093594.

An account has upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview) - install KB3093594.

I use Windows Live Mail & Outlook 2010

For Outlook 2010 they said changes were coming soon ..... & when an email account stopped working ..... to remove the email account & add it again to Microsoft Outlook 2010 ....

I get all my emails from yahoo.com.au, bigpond.com, hotmail.com & live.com.au in both Windows live mail & Outlook 2010 ..... it is convenient to have them all coming in the one place ...

so, a Hotmail account had been giving a send receive error for the last couple of days (in outlook 2010) so I decided to remove it & install it again ....

I have noticed that the Hotmail account used to be a MAPI (Type) & when reinstalled is now using Microsoft Exchange (Type) .......
