Default Hills Reliance TouchNav - "watchdog time-out" ?

    Hi all

New to the forum and first post... Please be gentle!

I have a 3 year old Hills Reliance TouchNav alarm system with several code pads. One of the code pads has a "watchdog time-out" message with an auto-repair system reset message. The was also an expander fault message on one of the code pads too but not there now

Unfortunately the auto repair has been on the display for at least a couple of weeks but no issues caused as yet.

Can somebody help me with what this message/fault actually means and any advice on how to resolve?

    thanks in advance.

    merry Xmas to all!!!

    Hi again

In addition to the watchdog timeout issue, I am also getting the following when power cycling the problematic codepad:

DAT files recovery/files may be corrupted
copy not finished/cannot open destination file for write 000V0000.DAT
    Expander lost
    Exp. Loss of supervision

To me this feels like a hardware fault rather than software or programming. A codepad fault perhaps? The 3x other pads are fine..

If you can offer some advice please point me in the right direction.

Hi VFast replace the keypad. I have now replaced several with the same symptoms. They had a bad batch for awhile seems to be rectified now though. DAS Tech support will tell you same thing.
    Cheers

Bad batch. Try a complete f*ck up. I have had nearly 100% failure rate on over 100 TouchNAV that has a green PCB. The ones with Blue board are rock solid now.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Strangely enough the code pad in question has been ok since I power cycled a couple of times a few weeks ago. That said it sees very little use so the fault still may reappear.

Do the code pads need any reprogramming if a new unit is installed?

I've had exactly the same experience. In the words of an old shampoo add, "It won't happen over night, but it will happen".

    Update...

I swapped to a spare comms/data wire in the hope of avoiding blowing ~$200 on a new Touchnav codepad. Fix worked great for <1 day then the problem reappeared.

To prove unequivocally that the fault is with the codepad I would like to swap with another good codepad in my system.

Can I simply swap the codepads or is there some reprogramming required?

    Thanks in advance.

Guys what is the current/latest spec or model of the Touchnav when I go to order a replacement?

Is $197 (eBay) a good price for a new Touchnav?

    Thanks
