    lemonfish or anyone else

How do I update these SafetyCams in Tom TomXXl 540.

Do I need to install them into a specific folder and place and run FastActivate in that folder also?

I have never used TomTom previously.

    Thanks, bondy99

To update the safety cams, download and unzip the file, then copy and paste those two files into your map folder (replacing the existing ones).

If you haven't patched your map, TT Home, cams etc.... copy the latest version of fastactivate in your map folder and run all of the patches.

    mtv,
Many thanks for your advice. I've only just purchased TomTom XXL 540 from eBay and yep it's well out of date. I downloaded Tom Tom Home to update. It was saved as in backup but for reason unkown it does not appear to have the latest Australian Map, SafetyCams etc. The POI could be still valid unless there are updates for them which I have not seen.

I've read what's required but need to have confirmation.

With reference to FastActivate, do I place this in Map, Safety Cam and whatever else needs updating in the respective folders and run it. After this is done do I keep FastActivate in the folder or delete it?

    Thanks

Fastactivate has always worked for me when run from within the map folder.

You can leave fastactivate in the folder, or delete it, it makes no difference, but I leave it there in case I need to run it again if there's say another map released and there hasn't been a later version of fastactivate released at that time.

If you haven't patched the navcore, TTHome, maps, cams etc... then you'll need to run fastactivate to patch all sections.

Obviously, you'll need to have those items in the device at the time you run it.

    MTV
    Thanks, I'll definetly do that,

I just posted a message under the map section 915..It appears my GPS has been updated when I had TomTom Home installed to allow it to go on the internet to check for updates.

I have downloaded the latest map as well as FastActivate seperately just in case.

This is what I eventually found on my GPS device. I could not find it first due to no instruction booklet on navigating this device.

    TomTom XXL IQ Routes Edition
    Device AKSYW SB4W
    App 9.5.10.1234792.2 OS 842337
    (2039 4/4/2013)
    64 MB RAM
    GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5279
    Map "Australia" v915.5074

I have not seen any folders that have safetycams or where to place Safetycams. Mystery to me

I hope the old farmer who has an exact model of my device can get his updated.

Many thanks for your help and guidance.

    Cheers

    @mtv,

Hmmm, thanks for that info, I have checked the map folder and definetly cant see any Safety cams related files. Are Safety Cams to do with Speed Cameras and Redlight cameras ?

Yes, safety cams are speed and redlight cams.

File names (in your Australia map folder) will look like Safety_Cam_AU_TomTom.ov2

If you don't have them already, just copy the latest ones into the map folder and run fastactivate to patch them.

I don't know why people always ask for new cam files.
    1. even in worlwide TT collections are only a hand full of new cam sites - all over the world...
    2. here in AU new cams are not being installed that often.
    3. the cam files mainly depend on users reporting cam sites as our gouvernment is too lazy to provide proper data for TT and others.
    4. I don't even use the cam files anymore, for me it is much simpler to stick to the speed limit
    5. If the update is that urgent the easiest and fasted way would be: Buy the cam update from TT, after that feel free to share the data.
    6. You can find later updates in some forums, but if you check the filesizes you will agree the older files must contain more cams than newer files...

Hello guys I'm not new to this but I do have a new tomtom (info in my sig) and can't get Speed Cameras to work after up-dating them, the icon is now greyed out in the menu and don't work in demo or driving also the icon on the main screen has gone...

    Any ideas thanks

Did you check the obvious? -- ist there a DCT file for the cams??
Updating the cams needs no fresh activation, so the error must be in the way you installed/activated them.
Simply use the DCT from a working backup and you should be fine.
