Default Car Stereo Freezing and Green Screen problem.

    Hi all.

Recently bought a Ford Focus and it came with a non standard car stereo.

The car stereo freezes a lot when selecting various options. Most of the time it will not play music from my SD card. Other times, when i select SD card the screen turns a green colour. I have to then power off/on and then it works again. It is now happening more frequently.

After searching online (Alibaba), it seems i have a Chinese made car stereo with built-in Bluetooth, GPS (iGo), Games, TV Tuner, Rear Camera.... I have managed to restore it, but it hasn't helped. And, i don't know the factory reset code, so cannot factory reset it.

    Looks just like this one:

Anyway, i have come to the conclusion that it needs a firmware re-install or update. I have no idea what the make and model is.

Please can anyone assist me in getting firmware for the stereo according to the system information below:

    MCU/DVD/BT Ver: A4-USB131128 / 1014 / JQ_LM_505_2012_09_28_V01
    System: Windows CE 6.0
    App Ver: 20131205
    Boot Ver: 014b0000
    Flash size: 128M
    OS Ver: A4-CZGB0-130823-01-CE6-V2.2.6
    UUID: C7D0600C-DE3A-4113-5438-583042445F30

I would be truly grateful for any help.

    Thanks in advance.

    ;-)

I know that you did not buy and fit this unit. Rip it out and toss it in the bin and get something better even a OEM unit is better quality than that piece of junk.

Here’s my rant on this subject.

You get what you pay for.

That’s the issue I see all the time customer says I can get a unit with all the fruit online for a quarter of the price or less why should I buy your brand name unit.

When you have a problem there is a bricks and mortar place to go to.

The retailer that sold it to you wants your repeat business by looking after you. When you have an issue most retailers (unfortunately not all) will bend over backwards to help a customer they sold it to as opposed to the online seller that can ONLY be contacted by EMAIL if you are lucky.

The brand name companies have their name to look after with a reliable product and backup support. Have a look at most brands websites and you see a support tab with firmware updates and user manuals available for download for their products. Try that with your Chinese Winmark car audio brand.

The R&D that went in to it and the testing the unit before it’s released to the public. I know that Alpine and others sent preproduction units to their sales reps and staff for testing.

When you see the inside of the no name unit it looks messy and poorly laid out compared to a brand name that’s neatly laid out and easy to trace PCB.

    Cheers

    Hi SS Dave.

I know exactly what you mean mate. I usually opt for a product which comes with proper after sales support.

Unfortunately, i am not in a situation yet to get a new car stereo, so want to try and get this sorted for now.

The Radio/BT/GPS/Camera and everything else works perfectly, however it is just the SD most of the time not playing music. If only i knew the Factory Code, may be this is the last throw of the dice?

    Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.

When finances dictate, i will surely be looking at purchasing a reputable brand car stereo. But for now, continue to listen to Radio :/

    Cheers.

    Hi Numatic

Try a small SD Card (4 gig) with MP3's only and make sure it is formatted in Fat16 or Fat32.

    Hi SS Dave.

Yes will give this a go.

If it fails, will probably pop down to the scrapyard for a standard Ford Stereo ;-(

    Thanks for your advice mate.

    Hi Numatic

Just remember that a lot of OE units are coded if you are getting one from the auto wreckers ask for the radio code of at least the VIN number.

    Cheers
