Depends on what your budget is and what you want to run on it, which you haven't mentioned.

There are others that may well disagree with me but I wouldn't buy Lenovo, I've had no end of trouble with them especially with the onsite warranty they offer.
That aside,m the best spec'd unit you are looking at is the Scorptec model and while it's expensive it is the best hardware and warranty on offer.

Having said that if you are prepared to hunt them down there are better offers available, especially if you are prepared to buy second hand from reputable resellers

In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

What sort of software are you looking at running? Unless you have some idea of what you need the machine to do for you, we can't give a meaningful answer. Are you looking to play games, or write letters?

For writing letters and watching movies, any basic laptop will do the job. If you are into movie editing, well, you needs will be top shelf stuff. Most of the machines that I'm running W10 on were new when XP was king, so writing letters and surfing the 'net won't set you back too much at all.

In addition to what lsemmens said, watching movies will likely only be restricted to your internet speed and the movie server you are connected to... assuming you are watching on-line of course.

Somebody coming around to your house to fix/exchange your laptop?
You don't even get that service from the most overpriced laptop company: Apple.
Haven't had or seen an actually broken Lenovo.
Only one that needed to have the RAM reseated, which I don't consider a fault because that was likely from abuse.
The keys are pretty crappy on the models that were given to school students back then when our Government cared a
bit more about their education, but then again abuse may be also the issue here and the sheer numbers that ended up on my bench top.
From my repair experience Acer are the worst. Asus and Lenovo the best

Mr. Butts you can take the flame suit off again

Yes I agree you should definitly consider refurbished business class Laptops that are built to last from a reputable seller, rather than some of the plastic consumer crap.

Check Ebay and Seymoure's link and then search for reviews of the models that you like. You will learn that way a lot about what features are important to
you because you probably didn't even know about some of them until you read the reviews.

    Good luck hunting.

I made the mistake a couple of years ago of buying 30 x Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p Tower i5-4590-3.3GHz-6MB/4GB/500GB SATA/DVDR/GN/NV 720 1GB/W10P64/ each with 3 Years ON SITE warranty.

Now I don't know about you but we as a business, when we purchases such items, even if through a third party supplier, make direct contact with the manufacturer and ask a range of questions regarding the products ability to meet our technical and software requirements.
I won't bother showing you the 100 plus emails associated with this purchase and the subsequent string of claims but suffice to say Lenovo categorically stated that the unit we purchased was Windows 10 certified and capable of running our proprietary image (we actually supplied them with the image).

When it became apparent during the build process that the image was failing on better than 20% of the units it was installed on we asked for 'On Site' assistance to help determine what we could do to re configure our image to hopefully allow it to run on their build.

27 months later we finally got resolution.

I feel somewhat justified in that I first prefaced my original post with the statement "There are others that may well disagree with me" however after that all I provided were opinions - and we all know where that statement is going to lead

Just as Nomeat has never actually seen a dead Lenovo, I find invariably that just because something isn't seen doesn't mean to say that it's not a reality.
Feel free to come on down son, I'll show you thirty that aren't fit for purpose.

    Just my 2c worth

Sounds like their 'On Site' assistance was somewhat under qualified for your propriety requirements.
Of course I would be fuming mad too if the manufacturer fully assured that the supplied hardware/drivers meets your requirements.
I normally don't deal with corporate structures, just repair and set up laptops and PCs for individuals, which I believe would be more in line with
    the requirements of 2pacc.
However my former assistant admin experience (not an opinion) with well over 300 Lenovo laptops issued to students of a local high school quite a few years ago was very positive.
Power supplies(damaged cable and plug), physically damaged screens, hinges and keyboards, batteries(relatively rare), that's more or less it.

Of couse there were a few write offs from water damage.

Just out of curiosity which company/brand did you find that got the job done?

Back in the day when IBM were running the show, their Thinkpads were the gold standard. Sadly, since they sold that bit off to Lenovo........

I can understand where you're coming from nomeat.
I currently have approx 200 HP EliteBook 840's out in the wild and 10 (for senior management) HP Zbook i7 17" units.
and as with you we get damaged PSU's, keyboards, cradles etc etc but very very few actual component failures.
I would be prepared to highly recommend HP but there will be others that won't.
    cheers
