    Default Kopek Rotator AR1002 - opinions ?

Anyone had any experience with a Kopek Antenna rotator ?

Its the AR 1002 which it seems, is being sold by everyone on Scambay. At $199 it seems like a good buy - but if it buggers up after a couple of months, it aint.

    cheers

Cheap = cheap ! TV-type rotators last a few years in the weather even unused.

I have 2 KENPRO KR-400s, one of which is 30 years on a tower with largish 6m and 2m Yagis. It's been apart once to clean the indicator pot and for a re-pack with grease. The other is a spare, bored shitless with waiting !

What lee said, buy once - properly !

Guys, thanks for the tips. Will follow the advice. Its only for a 2m yagi and might put my 2.4Ghz dish on it too.

I am using a Kopek AR1002 here for my 2M and 70cm antennas. (10 elements on 2M, 17 on 70cm) with no problems at all.
In fact, it is quite capable of operating with a 5 element yagi for 6M or a small HF tribander, though the last is starting to push the envelope a bit.
I have found mine to be very reliable indeed, it has been used for the last 3 years in both portable and home station use.
Here's a hint though, when you have finished turning the antenna to where you want it to be, turn off the mains power to the controller, they do tend to get quite warm whilst sitting there idling and it can cause the problems with the plastic gears in the controller.
