Default Distribution Amplifier for Satellite Signal

    Hi There

Is there any way of using a Distribution Amplifier for the Satellite Signal that connects to the LNB in of Satellite STBs.

The obvious need is usually to have 2 or more satellite feeds in a household and rather than having a multi port LNB on your sat dish (or multiple dishes) it would seem logical to use a distribution amplifier like what has been traditionally used with standard terrestrial TV signals.

I would assume that a Motel with many rooms including satellite TV service would have such an item.

Another example would be a multi apartment building using satellite TV services. Surely multiple dishes or LNBs with multiple ports would not be used here.

One might also suggest for daisy chaining between units using the LNB in and outs of the STBs. I have tried this but there seems to be some serios issue with channels with vertical polarisation - they basically stop working and my DM500s freeze up as well - Maybe some one can explain this issue as well.

Any feedback that might enlighten myself and I am sure others will be most appreciated.

you are correct. usually a dual output lnb is used with one lnb output doing Vert and the other doing Hor. this is then fed into either a distribution masthead or like me, a diseq switch and splitter spiderweb of cable mess! lol. it is much cheaper, but you get a bit more loss and it is very messy.

Obviously it needn't be an 11300 twin LNB.

For a cheap basic multiswitch (that works) search for Sam-3402.

So you are saying that with this setup I will effectively have a Satellite Signal Distribution Amp that I can connect 4 outputs to 4 Satellite STBs inpunts all receiving the source signal from a single dish/lnb.

From each of the STBs, the STB will appear as if it is directly connected to a Satellite dish/LNB with no issues.

    Have I understood this right?

    Yup 100%.

As long as it's a twin/dual output LNB feeding the multiswitch.

Multiswitches are incredibly versatile and can provide many more outlets and multi-dish inputs.

    Cheers mate,
As long as it does the job for me I'm not really worried,
    Twin LNB to 4 outlets.
Curious to know what the difference is if any.
