    isnt there one on the 600 as well?
    my understanding is that it was to stop cloning of the units somehow.

    might be wrong but thats what i was told

    the SIM slot on the DM600 takes a GSM card, it's a bit hard to hear someone on the other end tho...

    like the way you could use a silver to clone you gsm card so that you increase the memory size for numbers etc then just cut the chip out and pop it in the phone

    no, the SIM module is buried deep inside the unit, no where near the card reader contacts

    I am sure it wasn't intended for a gsm card, more a smartcard IC i would think.
