    Default Caravan wiring diagram

    Hi,

Does anyone have a good commercial van detailed wiring diagram they would like to share with me?

I am endeavouring to rewire an old 70's van for the '21st Century' ... or something like that and I would like to model it on a commercial offering.

The sort of thing is the newer vans with most things running on 12v and set up for free camping with on board battery, inverter battery chargers and 12/240 inverters, maybe solar panels etc.

There'd be no doubt some clever circuit design, as well as attention to electrical safety and the use of sound industry tested components.

Don't know how detailed you need but here is one with solar and 240V input

    Tks mandc.

I've got that one, I was after the next level .... if possible.

Problem with this circuit is that you cannot maintain/charge a remote van battery .... even with massive cables. Needs to be smarter to compensate for cable losses.

    Thus guy is brilliant

    and his schematic

I set up a van sat system for a bloke up here. Here's what he told me he had, and I know to work well. He has gas hot water, a gas fridge and a gas mini-oven and cooktop. He has a Honda (I think?) Genny, uses about a cup of unleaded for over an hour of telly, sat TV, DVD, and microwave. He has a series of 4 deep cycle batteries. They are charged by a few solar panels, that chuck out about 8 amps when it is sunny and hot. When they are cool, they chuck out up to 10 amps, apparently. Doing this, he is self-sufficient, nearly. And, witht he gas fridge going all the time, a 9kg gas bottle lasts him 3 or 4 weeks with nightly use of the cooker and hot water.

I guess I'm after something that gives ALL the details such that is it 100% compliant. RCD's that work etc etc.

Sure, I will pull it to pieces and make my own version, but it's much better to start with sound ideas, concepts and the actual industry tested technology (inverters, chargers, batteries, switches etc etc

One essential of course is the RCD.

And the protection must work for 'Shore Power', an inverter and the generator. Not as easy as it sounds.
