the simple answer is NO..
None of the new software works with the clones - a show stopper for me at least
the 800 only stream 1/3 as good as a 7020
will not integrate into MythTV like the E1 boxes at this point in time
Only good for a toaster
I've been fiddling around a couple of DM500 boxes for a couple of months and I am wondering if it would be worth buying a DM800 clone for around $650.
Firstly I'm wondering if it's a good deal.
Secondly I'm wondering if it will do everything I want it to do. At the moment I have the DM500 on fox which is set up to record over the network, plus I have a myth tv machine which runs a couple of DVB-T cards for local terrestrial tv and is also a file server for music etc.
I'm thinking of just using the PC as a server and using the dreambox as a front end. Would it be suitable for playing media from the server and also to use as a PVR for recording things from fox direct to server?
I know this stuff can be done with the DM500, but i'm just hoping a DM800 will do it better, or at least display a better quality image from the network.
Also, I understand the image quality from fox is pretty poor anyway.. but is the fox HD much better? Would it be worth the extra cost?
Cheers guys.

Might be better off looking at an AZBox Elite which is twin tuner (but comes only with one installed) for about $550 delivered from Germany. Its a new development but seems to be getting good reviews. Specs are here
Very much a media player box as well
