    Default 1 modem, 2 dreams!

    I have a billion BiPAC 7401VGP modem, which out of I have 2 dreams, 1 a 7000, the other a 500s
I have only just chucked the second box in, I was trying to run it wireless thru a minitar in client mode, but could not get it to work...so i gave up and hard wired it, running a cable 35 metres.
Now I made the cable a x-over as the other dream (7000) also runs a x-over, but for some reason i could not get net on it, so i ended up going with a straight thru and lo and behold i get net on it....great i thought....

now while i get net on both, i am getting serious drop out's on both every 20 to 40 seconds and this is now becoming annoying..as you could imagine...pixellation...freezing...

Is there anything i should now about to help this, have i done something wrong?
do i need to add a AP to get stable..

i dunno, i am clutching at straws here....

they are both on different ip numbers...

    Chuck me some thoughts...please

I reckon Also you only use straight though cat5 cables when plugging gear into switches etc. Only use x-overs when not connecting gear via switch. ie dream to dream, dream to pc etc.

i originally had the 7000 running thru a AP, so the x-over was needed there.
Initially I was trying to get it all to run with a minitar AP in client mode to my 500s, but could not get it to work, so i run a cable down to it..

so at this point my d-link AP has been removed and the x-over is direct into my 7000, i then run the cable to the 500 and set it up as a x-ver too, no go, so made it a traight thru and hey presto i get net, but massive freezes on both boxes.

the same config file in booth tho, so will chane that and see how it goes....

check the mac address are different on both dreams
check username/password different on both dreams
also instead of messing aroud with x-over etc
    just buy a small switch/router

Cheers all, appears to be solved with a new user and pass.

Bet you anything you like they different already, even if the 500 is a clone .. This only applys to clones working with clones and the same model i.e. 500 with 500, 800 with 800 etc etc
