Dream Box DM-500 Remote Acting Funny

Ok before 2-3 days this problem started, i was switching channels but i could not turn the volume up, the exit button blinks while i press it but does nothing, i can switch on/off the reciver using the red button, i can go to menu and all, but when i want to increase or decrease volume i cant and the mute button does not work it blinks but does not work, I bought a new remote control as i thought may be the old one was broken but to my surprise the same problems occured with the new remote too.
May be some one from my family played with the menu options or something im not sure, so any way to solve this fishy problem ?

Go to main menu/hardware settings/ remote control.

Select your style of remote in there.

I recon you've got the wrong one selected in there.

Their is no hardware setting in the main menu.

What image are you using? There is definitely a "hardware settings" option in jade.
