Hi Wort, even though it's 3 months out of warranty I'd take it back, you may get a sympathetic ear and it costs nothing to try

    Agreed. Stick to your guns.

In NSW, consumer law says that a product must of a resonable quality & last a resonable amout of time. The fact that it's technicaly out of warranty does not come into it.

If they knock you back & you take them to the Dept of fair trading, the court would find in your favor
Reality is an invention of my imagination.

Bloke at work just got his laptop repaired that was 3mths out of warranty through consumer affairs. HP didn't want to know him otherwise.

do this first, as it's most embarrassing when you take it back just to plug it in and everyone look at you funny because the thing now works perfectly.

then, if that dont work ring lg and say "Fair trading" and you may get magic happen!

Yea its real common with this model, and the 42 inch version.
LG say its caused by the main board but they can go for another 12 months maybe after a reset.

Mate it may be the result of a mains spike.
Its common, and we replace the main board as told by LG and havent had a come back.
Weve reset some and they havent recurred either lol
