if you are using newcs on a linux pc... for instance.. ubuntu 8.04.. open a console session.
type
ps|ax grep newcs.x86
(| being the shift and \ key above enter)
if the console returns any other newcs.x86 process other than the one associated with the grep command then there is already a newcs running and must be closed... use the kill command to kill all other newcs processes. will be a four digit number ####. so type
kill ####
then it will stop the processes you tell it to. use the grep command again to make sure they are all dead... it will again return the newcs associated with grep. ignore that.
'cd' to the directory.. so if your newcs.x86 is in /var/bin you would type
cd /var/bin/
and then type
./newcs.x86
and hit enter.... the program starts to flow in the window as soon as newcs starts and will proceed to look for your serial reader and log on to the card.
upgrading to Premium soon LOL
yaa i can run newcs - via dreambox telnet... but it doesnt show what i need to even when i telnet to the debug port....
in windows u see a whole lot more ...the commands flyin in and out of the card....
hmm...just trying to work out if you can see all this in linux mode...
login to console
use following command
type all
level internal
use will get similaor to windows one

Simply set up the debug output in the newcs.xml as you require and then when you start newcs use the nofork option (stops the core dumps) i.e. ./newcs -nd -c newcs.xml
