google for a program called dreamset.... best thing i've found for editing satellites.
i've got c1/d3 set up as one sat on my toroidal dish seems to be fine.
i would suggest maybe just updating c1 details to include the new d3 tp's.
Hi,
I've been reading various threads about the impending commissioning if the new Optus D3 satellite and I was wondering what needs to be done on a DM500 and DM600 (with F**tel sub) to "see" it.
I am assuming it would be as simple as just amending your Satellites.xml file with the appropriate transponder details (when they settle down), and re-scanning. However, as the satellites are virtually co-located (as far as the receiver dish is concerned), are the new transponder details added to the existing Optus C1 list, or do you have to create a new entry and list for Optus D3?
I have a motorised dish and I am afraid that if I create a new satellite entry, I will get the "Now moving to Optus D3 (156E)" (or C1) message every time I switch on channels from either satellite to the other. For this reason, I am leaning towards just adding the details to the Optus C1 list, and letting the DMs think it is just one satellite.
What are your thoughts on this approach?

A signal is a signal. Does it really matter if its on one sattelite or 20.
Basically your controlling what signal to scan by inputting that. If you put signals in lower than 12200 then it will scan d3. over 12200 then c1.
It's not rocket science

Add them to the C1 list.
On other receivers that can do network searches, it all happens transparently - set the receiver on one of the C1 transponders, turn on network search, and all the transponders get scanned - C1 and D3

It's collocated so I'd just add the tp's to the C1 list. If you're pedantic you could rename C1 to C1/D3. If you are anal then you could have a separate D3. It wouldn't be moving the dish as it would be configured for that position also.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'll just add the D3 transponders to the C1 list, as I leaning towards anyway. It's good to have re-assuring feedback.
