    Default Freeview channels over satellite

    Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to get the freeview channels over satellite, I'm in regional WA and the only digital channels we have are SBS & ABC2, I've asked uncle google a couple times and thought I'd come ask the experts.

    Thanks

With the right card you should get ABC, SBS, Prime7, Imparja, GWN, Win, NITV and AlJazera.

As for Freeview, we live in hope.

NITV and Aljazeera do not require a card to be viewed

In WA?....... I don't think so.

You can get all ABC and SBS channels, including the 'extras' ABC2 etc, plus the HD channels (if you have an HD receiver) from Optus D1 Ku, without any cards.

If NZ was a bit closer (heaven help us) we might get side lobes of the signal because the signal doesnt exactly follow the contours as they display on footprint maps but I would feel they are aiming the transmitter dish to get the minimum but still of broadcast quality along NZ's West coast, increasing as it goes inland to the East coast and the populated areas.
I wonder just how much they can 'shape' the broadcast signal to cover a land mass like NZ?
Any 'spill' into the southwest Pacific would be no consequence as their aint nobody there but the fishes.
That and allowing for the curveture of the Earth helps to make our East coast basically out of range.
