    Default Austar Lost Channels

We have lost a lot of Austar channels recently and wanted to know does this have something to do with our dish having a 11300 LNB.
The lost channels are all the +2's 150 through 157, movie channels, Playhouse Disney and more.

    Yes.

Austar should have changed over all 11300 LNB's by now.

I wonder how may subscribers still have a 11300 LNB?

Austar/Foxtel will soon know if they've missed some.... calls from subscribers with missing channels.

i changed mine to a dual LNB, i have rescanned the transponder, but I have lost a heap more channels now, only getting some sports and thats about it...

i am using the sharp lnb like ...i put the coax into the connector furtherest away from the plastic cover...is that the right one?

do i need to adjust the angle?

    any help is appreciated....

Did you change the lnb menu settings from 11300 to 10700?

If you install the dual with the cable outlets coming out at the same angle as the single LNB then the skew for the LNB will be about right. You can use either outlet on the dual LNB.

If you've re-scanned and still don't have all the channels you had previous to the LNB change, it suggests that the LNB skew is still not correct and requires further adjustment.

Hi XClemX, If the old one was a blue coloured Autosat type, its skew zero reference mark is in a different position compared to most other LNBs.

    G'Day Cobber,
If this is the one you have, it's a Twin / Dual output 10700.

This is like two separate LNBs rolled into one. You can use either output to separate STBs or both to a twin tuner STB.
You need to go to The Installation dish menu and set LNB Frequency to 10700.
If you need further help let us know what STB that you have.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

    Thank you "Druid"
the LNB ius a single output one.
As I said I have most of the channels that I was missing.
Ku-LNBF BS1R8AR128A, I belive that this is a dual polarity. Should this be at a particular skew/angle.. what shoudl the skew be. The original one was pretty well straight up!!

I also recall soemone saying that if you use a splitter this will cancell the dual polarity.

    Any comments guys!!

Thanking you all in advance for your assistacne

    G'Day Cobber,
We really need more information to answer your dilemma.
The Skew angle is principally dependent on the Satellite Azimuth.
This will vary depending on your Longitude. E or W coast or NZ etc.
It is also different for Optus Satellites relative to most others. About 40 degrees different.
You can adjust this by twisting in the holder for peak signal.
Switching polarity is accomplished by the STBs 13/18 Volt for V & H.
So unless you use a power pass splitter, you cannot change polarity.
You cannot have an all power pass splitter and independently change polarity on two STBs.
If you want to do that, forget the splitter and use an LNB like the one pictured. A twin with dual polarity output.
Does your LNB have Universal/LO 0975/10600 or single 10700 or 11300 on the info sticker?
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

Most , if not all LNB's are dual polarity. Simply this means that it will receive channels that are on both horizontal and vertical polarity. The majority of Foxtels channels are on horizontal with an increasing number on vertical. However this generally doesnt have anything to do with the recent channel losses. They were a problem only to people that had older 11300 LNB's. A 10300 LNB is now required to receive all Foxtel pay channels.

In general , the LNB is positioned at around the 7 oclock position ( 7 oclock being where the cable goes in to the LNB ) to correctly receive all Foxtel/Austar pay services on vertical and horizontal. Having said that , it does need to be fine tuned.

    Sorry Sanity,
you must have inside information as to his location.
Skew changes with Azimuth and consequently with Longitude as I stated.

It's near enough for a start then he scan skew the lnb from there watching the signal strength/quailty screen.
