I think everyone that is having problems with the keygen is that your saving it as .txt
If you are unsure uncheck hide known file extensions. If the icon is a notepad icon then thats a good indication that it wont work. It should be .unl

This is my first post and the first time I tried this it worked flawlessly, thank you so much for your guys hard work. Amazing.
I am having a couple of issues though, I have a chinese 2din dvd gps etc, everytime I start the garmin I have to press "accept" to use it when im not driving etc. Can I bypass this step?
Also it wont save anything, like my home and work places etc. Any ideas?

    great forum guys

    Exclamation

I don't know if this will help.
I recently bought an external antenna for a Garmin GPS, when it did not work I discovered that Garmin and Microsoft use a different Baud Rate than most other GPS units. 4800 as opposed to 9600.

Default RE: Errors with Toolhelp.dll and Garmin.mscr

    Hi Hollowman,

I set up my sd card and got the same errors. I copied the .dll and rewrote the Garmin.mscr to use my card name "SDMMC".

However something looks wrong in half-way into the Garmin file. There's the following line:

    SET SETMEM, SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"SetMem.exe"

    Where is the SetMem.exe file?

I don't have one, and I doubt that anyone else does either. let me know if I'm wrong about that.

I was hoping this might be the reason for the issue.

I commented out the following lines:
    line 20:#SET SETMEM, SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"SetMem.exe"
    Line 21: #Run (%SETMEM%, "6000")

    Line 28: #Run (%SETMEM%, "3840")

Before this, Garmin simply wouldn't load. After that, the entire O/S Hung. not good.

I'm now thinking about commenting everything in the Garmin.mscr file out then working through each line bit by bit. If one line runs, then uncomment the next and so on.

Will keep everyone posted on my progress.

First I'll try to run ONLY THE FIRST AND LAST BLOCKS of code:

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

    #Start explorer.exe and wait a second
    Run("\windows\explorer.exe")
    Sleep(1000)
    ###
    # eVERTHING IN THE MIDDLE COMMENTED OUT
    #

    #Kill explorer.exe
    If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    Kill("explorer.exe")
    EndIf

The net result of this test will be to windows explorer will open and close?

Default RE: Errors with Toolhelp.dll and Garmin.mscr

This is a follow-up to an earlier post. Like many of the users, I ran into problems starting Garmin after installing the Micro SD Card.

First, I had the issue that Kevaclone reported:
"ProcExists" requires toolhelp.dll on your device
    Line 34
    (\StorageCard\Garmin\RunGMXT\Garmin.mscr): if(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))

Thanks to Hollowman, I was able to download the toolhelp.dll

After that, Garmin would fail to start or the whole operating system would hang.

A number of people suggested that the Mortscript in garmin.mscr might be wrong. If the microcard had a different name, then it might not work, etc.

The main problem is that Garmin could not find the correct navi.ini.

    Directions.
    1) Copy the nav.ini file from the Garmin folder
    2) paste it into the root folder.
    3) if you already have a nav.ini folder, then overwrite it.

I recommend anyone that had similar problems to try this.

My nav.ini at the root was trying to run the wrong .exe file.

My card-name is sdmmc, but I didn't need to change the garmin.mscr file.

If you think something is wrong with your Garmin.mscr file, then add some pop-up messages and see if they execute.

    For example: Message("Start of mscr")

this should pop up a message when Garmin starts. if you add this to the top of the file and don't see anyting, there's a chance that your file isn't being executed. That's what happened in my case.
Thanks Hollowman for all of the information. It has been very helpful.

Ok guys I figured out how to save settings and I thought I would pass it on.

When running garmin on a chinese dvd gps etc to save you must exit the software via the software itself so that it saves the current settings. Just changing back to the radio or turning the car off wont save your changes. Pretty obvious really but I just wanted to share my results.

Maybe someone should sticky a troubleshooting to the first post in this thread?

Now I just need to nut out why my arrival times and clock dont sync up........

for most of you, it will work the first time, however some of you will have problems,
some minor and some major. All devices are different and you will get many different types
of errors. I can't list all the issues here but I want to ask people to help eachother out
and support eachother if someone asks for help. I'll do my best as well.

If there are newer versions of what I uploaded here, please let me know, please dont just say
there is a newer one, please supply the link or upload it yourself. Thanks

WHAT DEVICE DOES THIS WORK ON?
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Any Chinese DVD/GPS systems for cars (confirmed working on my Chinese In-Car DVD/GPS)
    2) Any PNA that runs Windows CE 4.2 or 5.0 core
    3) It should run on windows mobile, however its recommended you download the WM version of this

    WHAT TO DOWNLOAD:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) REQUIRED - (software) (not for windows mobile)
    2) REQUIRED - Australia and New Zealand
    3) REQUIRED - JMKG1.5
    4) OPTIONAL - Extra (optional)

    PREPERATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) OPTIONAL - Back up any Garmin data that you may have (eg: poi's, vehicles, maps, speed cams etc).
    2) OPTIONAL - Uninstall/Delete any previous Garmin versions.
    3) If your CE device / PDA / PNA / Car GPS uses a SD card for the maps and software, then you'll need a SD card reader for your computer or laptop. Alternatively, if your device supports USB storage mode, then you can use that to transfer your data/maps/software etc.
    3) Have installed

    INSTALLATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Extract [Garmin for Win CE.rar] that you downloaded above (using winrar)
    2) Copy the GARMIN folder to the root of your SD memory card
    3) Extract the [gmapprom.rar] file, you will get a gmapprom.img file - This is the map file
    4) Copy across the gmapprom.img file into the Garmin directory on your SD card.

    SOFTWARE UNLOCK CODE / ACTIVATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Unless your copying the files via usb, put your SD card back in your GPS device.
    2) Run the Garmin application from GarminRunGMXGarmin.exe (don't run it from GarminAppsWMque.exe otherwise your settings will not save when you exit the application.
    3) GarminXT should load up and give you a list of some options. Choose [Search for a garmin gps] or similar, its the bottom option. Choose this and it will give you access to the main menu (if it starts to search for a GPS, just hit skip for now, you can configure it later).
    4) Go into ‘tools’ (the spanner icon), then settings (again, the spanner) then scroll down to ‘about’ and write down the 10 digit Card ID.
    5) Exit GarminXT
    6) Extract JMKG 1.5 FINAL.rar
    7) Run garmin_kgen.exe
    8) Enter the card id that you wrote down in the [enter the unit id here] field, choose Garmin Mobile XT, then press Generate

    9) Copy or write down the generated code
    10) Create a text file and copy/type the generated code in it
    11) In notepad, go to file, save as, then save the file and name it SW.UNL (NOT SW.TXT.UNL)
    12) Copy the SW.UNL file to the Garmin folder of your phone

    13) Launch Garmin again and it should now be registered and working (You may need to select the Map from the menu. To do this go to Tools, Manage My Data, Map Sets - and make sure the relevant file is enabled.

    That is it ! Enjoy

I think you have to make a folder called Vehicle inside the Garmin folder and place the vehicle files after your unrar them into that folder.

I have an Asus R300, and I have it unlocked. IGo is working on it but for the life of me, I cannot get the GPS to start looking for satellites with Garmin Mobile XT. I have the option of picking these:

But it doesn't appear that any of them work. Can anyone help? TIA

    Thanks a lot for sharing.
I downloaded the main program. But there is no Chinese option for the language choice.
What can I do to display Chinese?
I simply inserted a Font folder with some chinese.ttf, but it doesn't work.

    Has anybody solved this issue?

Default Re Chinese PNA card Id

Hi, new to this forum, so if I'm off topic sorry!

I installed XT onto my chinese 7inch PNA ok. it's a bit buggy but relatively OK.

Used XT from "artful" and the usual unlocker v1.5

BUT after several days of not getting the right unlock code for sw.unl read that Chinese PNA just use a Device Id of "0", that's zero. Not what XT says when you get to the "about screen".

It worked, fed "0" into the unlocker pasted the code into sw.unl and it runs.

It is still buggy, doesn't exit nicely, and some functions result in a crash, will continue working on those. I've pointed the devices GPS button to a nice program "myboot.exe" which gives me the options of iGo, OziexplorerCE and, now Garmin XT.

Turning into quite a nice mapping tablet. Easy to see, and big enough to have two people look at it a the same time. The inbuilt GPSr isn't the best but so am considering an external SirfStar mouse via usb.

Hi All, First post here on Garmin thread. Just wanted to share past weeks effort to get v5.00.30 up and running. Used original tut and content from Hollowman Post #1 (many thanks to you-your pioneering work an inspiration.) Then supplemented using 5.00.30 version from artful, "split" que.exe for 1111111111 (unit or card ID for map unlock) from iredeto and edit instructions from betahash (noeman forum - google 5.00.30 & noeman). Thanks to those guys too. So used Ultraedit (30 day trial version from Ultraedit website) to edit Que.exe for 7" chinese double din gps unit using "StorageCard" as opposed to SDMMC and it now runs successfully (3D map not quite centred after edit mod, but settings now successfully being saved directly on SD card-No copying up to unit & down again). Unit is SirfIV chip with 128MB running WinCE6.0.
Whatever folders you set in the que.exe should match the physical folder structure and the XML file stored with the NVM files in order to correctly save your settings. GPS set-up required nothing and worked straight off once AU map unlocked. (Port COM 2 at 9600).
MSCR script below for anyone interested. Que.exe edit quite easy (either search by memory address as per instruction or by ASCI value of SDMMC).

Edit instruction courtesy of betahash (plus some touch-ups)
    -----------------------------------
    How to:
    Step 1. DIY
1.1 Donwload the Que.exe (Artful/iredeto). Try Winhex or Ultraedit to open it, make the changes and just exit and save. Should remain an exe not a text file.
1.2. Edit as follows: Goto address (Ctrl-G in UE) 0x460690 or search for ASCI value of SDMMC if address does not yield folder string values
1.3. Change all readable vars to your SD. Just type in the ASCI portion of the Ultraedit window (changes the Hex for you)
    eg "/garmin/" ->"/Storage Card/Garmin/" -- in CE5
    "/garmin/" -> "/SDMMC/Garmin/" or "/garmin/" -> "/StorageCard/Garmin/"-- in CE6
    or others, "/garmin/" --"/your sd folder/garmin/"
Make sure all the strings don't cover each other, and have a trailing "00 00" in hex.

1.4 those strings stand for settings "where to find the map img", "where to put / read customized settings ", "where to put favorite POI" & "full path and file name for favorite poi".

The 0x460690-0x460760 is the address range for path setting in the program.
That is to say, you just need to modify the few strings in the file.

1.5 It is NOT tested running GMXT in residentflash/my flash disk/ and so on. Even if you make related changes in the executable file, I am afraid you could never succeed.
As long as internal flash has /garmin/ folder, the program will promote "... insert original SD card ... ".
And till now, I haven't find a copy or version could be launched in internal flash.

1.6 If you are CE 6 users, change address 0x12e from "05" to "06" in hex (depending on Que.exe version you get this may already be done).

    Step 2. DIY
2A If your console is CE6, download Artful's pack. Easily rename the modified executable file, and put it in /garmin/app/wm/ folder (rename original).

2B In CE5, download betahash 2nd package. That is all that is needed. Put your DIY file in /garmin/app/wm/ folder.
Please empty "garmin/save" "garmin/poi, garmin/GPX" folders UNLESS you are in China and you could read chinese.

    Step 3. Edit Garmin/runGMXT/garmin.mscr

IT IS NECESSARY to read and edit Mortscript. You are hereby required to do so if you want to use it with my 2nd pack.
betahash garmin.mscr does following jobs (FOR CE5)
3.1 Kill explorer, set the registry to hide taskbar (in case taskhide does not work), launch explorer and hide it.
This is essential because without explorer and its multi-window switch facilities, Garmin could not display GUI in CE.
3.2 Launch GPS-gate, a GPS-port mirror tool. In most CE5, Garmin could not work with most gps port.
I am not professional enough to find the reason(port write-back, & GPS interfaces).
But I dare to say, GPS-port is a good tool for Garmin. Garmin doesn't work with port-splitter, another virtual port mirror tool.
This is optional. But a survey suggested 90% PNA need this tool.
3.3 Kill explorer again, restore taskbar registry entries, and load a explorer process when necessary.

    My CE6.0 mscr
    -----------------------
    Errorlevel("warn")

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

    #Run explorer.exe and wait a second
    Run("\Windows\Explorer.exe")
    Sleep(300)

    #Hide Taskbar
    Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarHide.exe")

    #Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
    RunWait(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"..\Apps\WM\que.e xe")

    #Kill explorer.exe
    If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    Kill("explorer.exe")
    EndIf
    ---------------------------
Hope this helps someone else and many thanks to all those contributing to the forums.
    Cheers,

    Hi Newbie here,

Thanks for the amazing information found here. I don't even own one of the Chinese PDA's yet but I am looking to buy a 6" screen which runs Windows CE 6 and from reading some of the posts here I think there might be problems running the Garmin software on CE 6.

Can anyone tell me if CE 6 has problems that prevent the software from running? It is getting hard to find a 6" screen with CE 5, that's why I am asking this question.

    Many thanks,
    JP
