Talking Sygic Mobile for Windows Mobile and Nokia with 2009 Australia Map - TUTORIAL

If there are any mistakes, please PM me to let me know so that I can fix them.
Please notify me of dead links as well, I'll do my best to fix it.

for most of you, it will work the first time, however some of you will have problems,
some minor and some major. All devices are different and you will get many different types
of errors. I can't list all the issues here but I want to ask people to help eachother out
and support eachother if someone asks for help. I'll do my best as well.

If there are newer versions of what I uploaded here, please let me know, please dont just say
there is a newer one, please supply the link or upload it yourself. Thanks

    THINGS TO KNOW:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) English language only
    2) English voices only
    3) Australia map only
    4) If you get errors or trouble starting the application ask here for help or google it, because google is your friend.
    5) This is currently configured to run Australia maps straight away.
    6) If you wish to add more maps, all you need to do is open Sygic Mobile 7.71.mlm in notepad located in the Maps folder. Now add/type your desired map under [AUS], for example, if you have a map of New Zealand, you will add [NZL] under [AUS] providing you leave a gap.
Then copy your desired map to your map under. You will need to create a folder for your extra map, such as nzl and put the nzl.pak (map) in there.
    It should look like this:

    7) No need to activate or crack the maps or software.

WHAT DEVICE DOES THIS WORK ON?
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Any Chinese DVD/GPS systems for cars (confirmed working on my Chinese In-Car DVD/GPS)
    2) Any PNA that runs Windows CE 5.0 core
    3) Most PNA devices that run Windows CE 4.2 core
    4) Any Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.5 devices (confirmed working on my HTC TyTN II Mobile Phone, HTC Touch Pro 2 and mio168 that runs windows mobile 2003 with a CE 4.2 core)
    5) Confirmed working on Nokia 6110 navigator
    6) Confirmed working on Nokia e71

    WHAT TO DOWNLOAD:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) REQUIRED - (4744) (software)
    2) REQUIRED - - version 7.80 - 2009 - Tele Atlas

    PREPERATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) OPTIONAL - Back up any previous versions of sygic data that you may have (eg: poi's, voices, maps, speed cams etc).
    2) OPTIONAL - Uninstall/Delete any previous sygic versions/directories.
    3) If your CE device / PDA / PNA / Car GPS uses a SD card for the maps and software, then you'll need a SD card reader for your computer or laptop or you can plug your device in via the USB to transfer data that way, depending on your device.
    3) have winrar installed .

INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS MOBILE OR CE
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Extract [Sygic 7.71 (4744).rar] that you downloaded above (using winrar)
    2) Copy the sygic folder to the root of your SD memory card
    3) Extract the Maps.rar and copy the Maps folder to \Sygic\Maps
    4) Start sygic with drive.exe which is located in \Sygic\Drive\WindowsMobile
    5) You can delete any folder that is relevant to Nokia, obviously you wont be needing it on your wm device

    INSTALLATION FOR NOKIA PHONES (s60)
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Extract [Sygic 7.71 (4744).rar] that you downloaded above (using winrar)
    2) Copy the folders inside the sygic folder to the root of your SD memory card (not the sygic folder)
    3) Extract the Maps.rar and copy the Maps folder to \Maps (root of your memory card)
    4) Copy SetupSymbian.sis somewhere on your memory card where your nokia phone can locate it to install.
    5) Install SetupSymbian.sis from your phone.
    6) You can delete any folder that is relevant to Windows Mobile, obviously you wont be needing it on your Nokia phone.
    7) Start sygic Moble from your applications icon on your phone

    That is it ! Enjoy

No problem, I'll do that - Right now I'm working on NDrive tutorial and will post that in about 1 hr give or take. I'll then start on tomtom and should have it up in a few hrs or tonight. If I don't do it tonight, sit tight, will come

thats a bit strange that it allows u to copy one thing and not the other. do you have enough room/memory left ? try copying the files/folders first, then do your map last..

Backup everything you have on your mass storage, format it.
try reinstalling. If it still doesn't work. Try reinstalling about 10 times.
I'm not being a smart ass, it tends to work. But it may not, no garentee

you are being a smart arse, admit, you will feel better for admitting to it

no, it just dawned on me that I may not have followed step 2 to the letter, I will attempt to installed the program for the 4th time (and if that don't work I will try another 6 times, then I am going to give up and have another beer!)

yeah yeah, I did, question, do you have a snapshot of the dir structure that should be on the mem card, I am going to assume it is not:

    \sygic 7.71\etc etc etc.

    but should be:
    \2571
    \drive
    \maps
    \res

    all of the root dir.
    correct ?

Yes all in the root dir.
don't copy the sygic folder only whats inside it to the root of your memory card.

Does anyone know if this also supports text-to-speech? I know it has just been added to the iPhone.

    just \maps\aus

by default its on auto detect, sometimes that does not work
go to MENU > SETTINGS > GPS HARDWARE and set your COM port and Baud rate manually

if that still does not work, go to \Storage Card\Sygic\Drive\WindowsMobile\
Open Settings.ini - tell me what you go there, i have

    [Default]
    ; com=[COM1:,9600 | autodetect]
    com=autodetect
