Depends what Navcore you use - the 9.024 I posted does not have or need switchfiles...
Thanks, when I said recommended I didn't mean officially !!
I'm keen to check out some of the new V9 features like Eco Routes ans some other one which tell you about your route before you depart (Number of speed cameras etc..).
I've only upgraded a couple of Tom Toms and I have never done anything with switchfiles. Is this something I will have to be comfortable with if I want to continue messing with my tomtom ?

I'll give it a shot but I would have preferred something not so heavy (don't want video players and such).
The 9.024 is just the basic Navcore....

Like you, I completely detest rapidshare, there are so many alternatives and its just ridiculous. I don't mind being queued for a period of time, but to just say you can't get it and go premium of "wait a while" when "a while" is not defined... bah!
Thanks to you and to Vinnie. I did hit the thanks button (and his too) but yours disappeared without posting my official thanks. So here it is
I know the RS problem from first hand and know it is annoying ,but I also noticed that it is only really bad when you need something really fast
I've tested it myself several times :
RS against torrent
The result was most of the time RS was finnished first - if you use the right tools of course!
Biggest problem with the torrents was only limited sources for full seeders (especially with brand new maps) and quite often not the right info for the file so that I had to download another torrent to get the right stuff.
I mean I don't mind if someone is posting links to other filehosters ,DLC containers or torrents but are we really that greedy ?
For a few bucks every major GPS forum offer acces to high speed servers where you can download all you need without any limit...
Complaining about the way you can or have to download a map ,Navcore or some tools is in my opinion wailing on the wrong end - how much money did everyone save by doing it the illegal way?? So for the rest is barely an inconvenience
But please don't take too negative as it is only my personal opinion!

Has anyone tried Navcore 9.022 on the TomTom XL 340 ?
I upgraded to it through TomTom Home, along with the newest map (still under 30 day map guarantee).
What happens is, when I attempt to navigate to anywhere, address/postcode/city centre, the device reboots itself, I tried soft-resets (holding the button down for upto 30 seconds, the green screen appears).
I've spent a few hours messing with it in the end I'm going back to my older firmware as it actually works.
Oh, I've read that mapsettings.cfg gets corrupted, tried clearing it, tried operating my device through TomTom home, it works fine, tried adding/editing a favorite fine, tried navigating to the favorite ok.
I tried to actually navigate to an address....reboot
I tried two different versions of the Australian maps, for now I'm running new maps and the original firmware (8.xx) that came with the GPS, I've also submitted a ticket to TomTom.com but nothing yet
The 9.022 is already updated to the 9.024 (because of many problems).
If Home offered you the 9.022 you should try the update again after installing the 9.022 to get the 9.024.

Thanks for the tip, Home insists that 9.022 is the current version to download so I've backed up the device and let it download again.
After the update I'll immediately try to upgrade to 9.024 to see if that fixes my issues, I also upgraded the Home software to the newest version to see if that helps at all.
Nope, tried again, TomTom home insists 9.022 is the newest version, after upgrade it says no newer items available.
Attempt to navigate to an address....reboot! (restoring my device again)
I tried logging a ticket with the TomTom support and nothing yet.
Maybe you should try to re-download your map.
Sounds to me like a corrupt cline.dat file....

Might be a stupid question ,but did you patch the Navcore ?
If you use a non-genuine map you hae to patch the Navcore ,otherwise it won't work...

No question is stupid when your trying to help
Its a legitimate TomTom, about 25days old, I don't need to patch the map because I downloaded it using the 30 day map guarantee using TomTom home.
Along with the firmware, its just disappointing how many times it has failed (only when upgrading though).
I've also had some strange issues with the computer voices, not sure if the mis-pronunciation is normal, its a XL 340 and it attempts to read some turns and says things like:
"Continue through the roundabout, Follow e ? route (no goes here) towards (sometimes I can guess what the suburb is)."
I have an idea...I might download this and use Kdiff3 to compare the Loquendo directories and see if things are very different.
I've also logged a problem with TomTom support but no response in the past 3 business days.
Thanks for the help
EDIT: using the english spoken and computer voices (Kate and Jane I believe...?)

Comparing the Loquendo folder from my fullbackup will only confuse you
It is modified because was trying to improove the pronunciation of some things (like Ballarat for example) - but had no luck.
With the 9.024 the spelling is correct - that was one of the resons why TT updated it.
So I assume you won't have much luck with the 9.022
With a few modifications to the ttgo.bif you could redownload the 8.415 if that would be of any help?
Maybe you should try again to download the 9.024 with Home - otherwise I could provide you a direct download link ??
Just checked and it seems I only can provide links for the x50 models - not sure if they will work without patching on your device
As worst case cenario I would do a backup of the device ,install the 9.004 for a test ,activate the map and see if it works better - if not put the backup on the device and hope for a quick update from Home

Home insists 9.022 is the current version
Whenever I install 9.022 it downloads again, I have 3 or 4 downloaded copies now.
I think I'll keep the backup for now (ie. 8.x)
Problem solved, the software needed to be reinstalled.
I had to format, reset the device, clear flash twice, re-copy my maps back over, and let TomTom home re-install the application twice and now its all fine.
Thanks for the help
TomTom One (New Edition) which Navcore?
I have the TTOne (New Edition) which I had previously upgraded to Navcore
8.410.1218, Boot5.5128 & GPS v1.21 This was working with Australia Map 835.2419;
New Zealand 835.2419; Central_and_Eastern_Europe_835_2420;
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB.v8.35.2419; and USA&CAnada.835.2494 all on an 8Gb
SD card.
In this guise I had computer speech and lane guidance
I downloaded latest Australia Map 860.3101 and tried to install with
Navcore 8.562.438269.
Seems like I stuffed it completely. Could not get 860.3101 map to work on the
TomTom (although it did work under "Operate my One" in TTHome V2 (patched) using
Fast Activate 1.8
At the moment I've reverted to Australia Map 6.560, std Navcore 7.903, OS2344,
GPSv1.21,Boot5.5128
What's the best Navcore to install on this device so that I can get the lane
guidance and computer voices working again? I'm also looking for latest maps
for Europe, Nth America, Australia, NZ, etc.
As mentioned, this is the TT One (New Edition) (small screen) device, with 32 Mb RAM, SD card. Would really appreciate informed advice.
Thanks.
