Not sure youcould try my z card
800 doesn't do divx. It does h264 which is better though.
if it does H.264 you would expect it to do avi-divx-xvid etc so might just be a addon for the developers to work on .
have you tried navigating to the files in the same manner you do with the 500's and select the file to be played, i know once i do my mounts in the 500 and 7020 i would just select the stroed ts file and press play
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
Your assumption is wrong. The dm800 does not support divx. It simply doesn't have the hardware decoder todo it. If the hardware isn't there, then there isn't going to be any module or addon in the future for it.
why is there no sound thru the PoPcorn Hour player when playing a copied (to computer) HD file from the DM800?
Try using vlc its an excellent player
Hi,
afaik you don't need any special hardware to play divix. What you need is fast enough processor, divix codec and player. DM is like PC running some kind of Linux. If what you say is true then you will need special hardware on every PC to watch divix. Don't know about DM800 if the processor is fast enough, can only assume that it should be.
Cheers
not 100% sure about the format of the videos etc but i can watch the "avi" files fine on the dm8000...not sure abt the dm800...
Isn't the speed of the processor based on hardware? Hehe
So wether a dm can play divx is kinda dependant on hardware.
The dm800 is a 250mhz processor. Try running divx on a pentium I 250mhz
Hi,
it was clear to me that you said "simply doesn't have the hardware decoder todo it" suggesting some separate chipset just for DIVIX. That's why I corrected it
Cheers
EDIT: for divix hd it is too low, but dm800 has HD hardware decoder? For SD it might be ok, ppl are using divix on other dm boxes so...?

OK,
had some reading. You can't play divix on dboxes as the cpu is not powerfull enough. The way to do this is (as sugested in previous post) to setup vlc on PC, vlc plugin on DBox and stream from PC. Google for this if you interested, there is some nice manuals how to set it up.
Cheers
