Default Where could I pick up a DM500s in Sydney

    Hi,

Anyone know where I could collect a DM500s in Sydney on Monday?

I'm heading back to Brisbane Monday afternoon so would like to complete this install before I leave Sydney. Preferably somewhere near the Bankstown side of the city.

The DM500 I had for the job has developed a LNB power issue that occurs after several minutes of operation (or immediately on trying to power the H-H motor). The signal strength drops to 30% and the sat finder no longer emmits any sound. Have replaced LNB, H-H Motor and Power Supply. It is probably , and as DM500's are pretty cheap I'm just going to replace it.

    Fatty.

Wat size power supply did you replace it with? Not having used a H-H motor with a DM500 I read that it's best to use one of at least 3A.

The standard power unit runs a 1.2m offset on a motek here perfectly from the DM500.

    Thanks for the replies.

The power supply was 4amp (from an LCD monitor), I even tried a 5 amp one no luck.

Urban, your location was too far for me to make it over your way sorry.

The DM500 would drop LNB power to about 2 volts after trying to move the motor or change channel, it would also drop to 2 volts if you just left it for a couple of minutes.

I tried earthing it that didn't help either.

So I managed to get the DM500 operational by taking the H-H motor out of the loop.

It seemed to be problematic when anything was inline, even the satfinder being inline would result in voltage dropping back to 2 v after a few minutes.

It's been running most of the day today, obviously just no motor, so I might end up replacing it and using this DM500 just for a non-motor setup.

    Fattious.

how does the motek handle the 1.2 offset dish? they are a huge dish and a little motor. I am thinking of getting the same setup.

Pass, as it says in the user manual up to a 1.2m dish, so this is what I use

I can't think why you need to use a 1.2M here. May save a bit of life on the motor using a smaller dish.
