    Default Dreambox DM8000

    Happy New Year to all,
I am a newbie who has ordered a 8000 and is awaiting consignment.
I have been doing some research (Whew Hahahaha) Can anyone recommend the files that I should download in Readiness. Images and Emulators specifically. The emulators (CCcam) look to be an issue perhaps with respect to version numbers and Sat types.I2 specifically
I was thinking of using the box for Fox and Austar? I have paid subs to both. Are there any more sats in my neighbourhood (se qld) that I can access ? I like tinkering.
I like the Pli Images web site as well as Dreambox tool.
PM me if the data gets too big Hahaha

    Thanks

    Talking CI CAMS Dreambox

My 8000 box has arrived and now I am on a steep learning curve and am seeking advice.
I looked at the OLD posts regarding CAMS but they are dated 2008 and refer to Irdeto 2.06 CAM which are not avail from any site that I can find.
The only CAM available on offer is the Irdeto 2.26.
Do I in fact need the physical CAM to use Sponge bob or any other service providers cards.
I wish to at least get the box up and running in its virgin state before I flash any new software which has the definate potential to get myself into hot water.
Can Anyone point me in the right direction for my research at the least.
    Thanks in advance.

Austar cards wont work in it , they only work in original Austar receivers. Foxtel cards will work with a softcam. Sorry , thats all I know

    Default CI CAMS Dreambox

Thats a start, Thank you for your reply. I have both subscriptions at different locations and the Austar connection is giving me the pips. It takes 5 secs to load the EPG using the supplied Atlas box and then another 1-2 to select the channel. Sigh! Austar has offered me 3 months free subs to upgrade to a Mystar box. It is faster, but it is annoying to have to pay to fix their problem box. I have the HD Mystar as well but it is overrated. No sound at times. Hahahaha and if I record and fast forward then sound disappears for 2 secs and sometimes altogether. Hahaha.
If I use a softcam when on Fox do I need to even buy the CI CAM? I cannot find an overview anywhere on the process. Doom9 has articles but everything is OLD data. 2006-2008.
What can the "Old" Irdeto 2.26D CAM do for me?
Looking for answers if anyone can send me some links.
    Cheers

Foxtel uses NDS encryption of which there is no hardware cam. Therefore it will only work with a softcam.

The hardware CI cam is not of any use to you. Although Austar uses Irdeto encryption , they also use methods that dont allow their cards to be used in third party receivers.

Try doing a site search on the Foxtel NDS card and Dreambox softcam ( I just chucked in some key seacrh words ). If you dont get any results , try the google site search option that is also under search on the toolbar.

The box lives up to its name, Its a Dream, Well the software is thanks to Linux. All the Providers popped up as folders with the individual channels listed. Finally some order in the layout. Funny that I only had Fox listed as a sat provider.
I thought Austar was on the same bird. It didnt list. Any clues as to why not?
All the fox channels are listed however my subscription card would not let me access them through the DB. I take it that I need to run something like ccCAM. It appears to be the most popular but then the survey is probally European. Any suggestions or a recommendation?
The Dreambox has access for 4 tuners. I currently have it kitted for 2 S and 2 T and I can see a reason for installing another Dish to capture the Soccer and other stuff out of the middle east.
I am curious as to why there is a time difference with the clock on my Box and the local time. There is a 2 hour and 5 min difference. The system asked me for my location and I have listed Brisbane. It may cause some problems with the EPG later. The box came with Enigma2 v 2.5 preloaded. I wonder if I should update it just yet. Any Suggestions?
Now to go back and play.
    Cheers

Foxtel uses NDS encryption and Austar use Irdeto encryption. If you have a look at the channels from C1/D3 for those paytv services, most are similcrypt. ie have both encryption systems. But as mentioned above, Austar cards won't work anymore as a result of a slight change to it's encryption about 18 months ago.

the time difference is due to the transponder time and maybe its mixed up somewhere...

try this firstly check the time settings in the setup menu , take the sat cables out of the box, put it on a channel which had the right time, shutdown the box, , then boot it backup ... then plug in the cables and hopefully it will be back to normal...worked for me..

Loaded CCcam 2.1.3 and pics are up. However quite a few Channels are unable to load. Just a Black Screen . I am confident that I have a Sub to these, Will have to check in detail.
I noticed that there are 4 lines listed under Entitlement info
    003 ,00b , 00d, 00f all listed with the same date 21/03/2007
What are all the entitlements avail? Or is this not an issue.

I have been unable to scan in all the Channels available as listed Each Time I scan I get a different result. Grrr I then cleanup by doing a factory default and start again. Its getting ugly. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
I am using a PLI Image.

Time clock problem is now fixed. The default "Brisbane" Loads the time incorrectly. I selected Syd , Melb and Canberra - same time difference +10 as Bris but works . I will need to make an allowance for the EPG for Daylight savings time.

The Dreambox 8000 takes 2 mins from cold Boot- Bummer. It is the same with the factory Image and the PLI one.

Stands to reason as it should be the time taken to load the boot info and do its system checks.
Just put it in standby is the trick- Its then Instantaneous.
