Dreambox Edit and DM500s Problem

I am trying to use Dreambox Edit to modify my channel settings and it seems I have another strange problem.

I can down load all the channel services list into my computer fine and then do the editing changes and then upload them back into the DM500.

It seems everytime I reboot the dream the settings revert back to what was there originally.

I went a step further and FTP in via WSFTPro and copied the "services" and "services.locked" files from the DM500 (at /var/tuxbox/config/enigma ) to my computer. Did some changes and then loaded back into the DM500 with WSFTPro.
Then went back to Dream edit and loaded the file from the dream to my computer and sure enough my changes were there. Reboot the DM500 and it was back to original list again. (i.e. before my editing)

This is driving me nuts.

Any ideas what is happening here?

Use Bouquet Wizard. Heaps better. I never got dreamedit to work 100%

This is old enigma issue / feature / bug.

Once you have ftp'ed the changes you want back to DM box and issued the reload command (see it on the upload page) you can pop into telnet (use dcc or CMD) and login to your DM box and issue this command

killall enigma <press enter>

You will see an error message on most DM500 boxes but disregard this. Now go check it should be working 100% now. If not do it again.

Have you changed the http port from 80 on your dreambox? If you have make sure you have changed it in dreambox edit for that profile as well. Otherwise you'll get exactly what your experiencing.

Instead of port 80 is there any other preferred port number?

I have just changed this to Port 100 and it worked - Thanks Warbo

Not sure why this would make a difference.

I have been playing with this DB edit and I can't upload my changes. They don't take effect. I tried the kill command and different http port but nope!
Any tips pls?

use dreamset 2.0 much better

Actually it did do something it loaded in the new bouquet and the channels associated with it but other changes like ones I put in favourites and deleteing the crap channels didn't work.
