Default Dreambox, 4 way DiseqC switch and two sharp 10700 LNB's

So I had two dishes with 4 port Universal 9750/10600 LNB's and 4 DiseqC switches going to 4 Dreambox receivers.
That all worked fine, well one room (the furthest, if that means anything) would need some time for the switch to kick in and change from one LNB to another.

Now, the LNB's were swapped out for sharp 10700's and now the dreamboxes won’t switch any more.

On one dish maybe 2 -3 transponders lock and on the other a similar scenario.

If I take out one lnb out of the DiseqC switch, the other LNB works fine, again, vice versa.

In the DM7000 the setup is

    Sat1 LNB 0 22K Hi/Lo Power H/V
    Sat1 LNB 1 22K Hi/Lo Power H/V

    The LNB's are both
    Hi 10700
    Lo 10700
    Thresh 11700

    with
    LNB0 being DiseqC 1.1 A/A
    LNB1 being DiseqC 1.1 A/B

Any reason they are interfering with each other, even though they are on a DiseqC switch? Are the settings OK?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Vlad...

    Hello Vlad,

I'm curious - why did you decide to change the LNB's?

The universal LNB's will receive everything that the new 10.7GHz L.O. LNB's will.

    I didm't. F0X dude swapped 'em.

It's wierd, I get some transponders V and H on bot dishes and some I don't get sync/lock???

Ahhh looks like its only verticals I get sync and the horizontals that have an equivalent vert freq, so I suspect i have a voltage drop on this length of RG6, which won't switch over to H, right?

    You haven't mentioned cable length?

Anyway, i have similar and works perfect.
I also have the switch behind my Dreambox, not on the roof.
Furthermore, these switches are cheap and often break or start to loose ports etc.... You need to test it in a known environment.

I think you need to eliminate the diseqc from the equation and have a cable directly connected to the LNB. Then if this is ok put the diseqc back in (don't connect up the other receivers) and get this going. Little steps.

    Cheers,

Check LNB rotation in the bracket if the same transponder is giving you signal to both Vertical and Horizontal.

I've assumed because a foxtel tech replaced the lnb's the skew is ok but you're prob on the money.

The Universal LNB (9750/10600) use 22K to switch between LO-H and LO-L and 14V/18V to switch between V/H, right? What’s different with the 10700 LNB?

It looks, and is cheaper than the universal LNB’s especially the Invacomms and such so I guess it’s a cheap and nasty LNB for providers to flog?

Sharps are a good lnb! They are a single band LNB so the 22khz is not required.

    Hey, I hear you...and agree

By comparison, would you say 10700 LNBs' are better than the 9750/10600 universals? You know, not brand name but technical specs/features?

the technical specs depends on the brand and vice versa! The uni's have a wider bandwidth. In saying that the ones I have at home don't seem to be quite as sensitve as the Sharps.

So I don't see any reason why my Uni's worked an the 107's don't. Mind you, the Uni's are Invacom (Rolls Royce of Uni's, apparently) :|

    This is weird!
    On the DiseqC switch, port 0 I have I8. The “12686 H 28124” works fine but the “12726 H 28066” doesn’t.
The signal strength on it shows around 49% with around 45% quality but no lock or sync. If I go to manual transponder and play around with the settings, changing it to vertical on the same frequency, takes it to 65% and ~50% still, (with no lock or sync, which is what I expect).
    Any suggestions?

    Oooooppppsss.

OK, I'll stick my neck out again.
Careful reading of your first post leads me to believe that you cannot have 4 Dreams independently controlling two dishes with 4 port LNBs with DiSEqC switches. With Multi Switches, yes.
It works up to a point, but..............
If so, I would like to know how?
