    ok ill be nice

i think you create a folder igo8\ui_igo8\icons\poi and put your icons there.

    Didn't work.

The POI's were there, however, only the standard icons?

Are the icons for IGO or just general icons?
I'm asking because as far as I know IGI icons are RLE compressed...

the igo icons need to be a bmp (its all icons in one image)

i just had a look at mine... i got my poi icons here

    igo8\ui_igo8\common\poi_mapclose.bmp

    i've also got

\iGO8\ui_igo8\common\night\poi_mapclose.bmp (different colour for night i guess)

    in addition, i've got

\iGO8\ui_igo8\240_320\Backgruond\picture.bmp (background picture in bmp format and make sure the size fits your screen)

Yep, I know where all the mapclose files are, however, they are done in a film like way with numerous icons on it.

I just want to add a few custom bmp igo8 icons.

I tried adding them to the mapclose file, however, it don't work.

I wonder if the custom folder in ig08 is the place for them?

go into data.zip and see if you can find kmlpoi.icon and delete it (back up first)
i read somewhere that it fixes your issue (i think)

    Hi,

I have seen few Gps's on Ebay selling Gps's with all the Aussie icons on them like this one here:

As you go to the link above on Ebay and stroll down the page you can see the seller is offering THOUSANDS OF EXTRA BONUS POIs. All of them are exclusively Australian icons.

Is there anyone out there who has these icons on their Gps's Data.zip or Branding.zip!

Please upload the same for all of us.

    Thank you!

    I got mine from here:

The only problem is that they will not work with my 400x240 res, I end up with two icons showing as they are that small.

I have no idea on how to resize them to 400x240?

    Windows Paint or similar.

Just right click and "Open with" Paint.

The yankee icons I downloaded didn't all suit me, I downloaded a few for Australia and just pasted them over an existing icon in the mapclose.bmp.

Your poi.icon file is the same, just "open With" Notepad.

Here is my data file with the updated POI Icons, I use 400x240 res however, I think it will work for all others as the date zip is a multi res file.

I would get it quick as megaupload took the last thing I uploaded off.

The original one can't be opened, I thought you meant a custom file.

I've been through posts on installing custom icons and I still can't do it. I have icons in the data.zip file and icons in the branding.zip file (both came with the GPS). I've done something to the GPS so that I can only see the stock standard icons in the data.zip file - which is an improvement on my previous efforts.

I've read that I need a ui_iGo8 folder in the root folder, but that same folder appears in both the data.zip and branding.zip files. Do I extract those files and have them duplicated in the zip files? Do I remove the ui_iGo8 folder from the data.zip file? Or have I got my tongue sticking out the wrong side of my mouth?

    Any help appreciated.
