SDHC will work with your combination of Navcore and bootloader.
Did you only put the map on the card or the Navcore as well?
I have a TomTom GO 300 which has Bootloader version: 5.5128 & NavCore Version: 8.414.
However, it won't recognise 4Gb memory cards - neither SD nor SDHC cards.
I have three memory cards:
SanDisk 2Gb Extreme III SD Card
SanDisk 4Gb SDHC (Class 2)
Kingston Elite Pro 4Gb SD (x50 speed)
I can use all maps I've tried with the 2Gb card:
Europe_2Gb_840_2568
Western Central_Europe__2GB_840_2563
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_840_2562
They all work perfectly but when I try with the 4Gb cards they both show a corrupted version of the animation with the blue SD card inserted with the red cross through it. It only shows the first fraction of a second of the animation looped.
If I power on the device holding the power button down it shows SD card capacity:
SanDisk 4Gb SDHC: 3872256 kByte
Kingston Elite Pro 4Gb SD: 4026368 kByte
I've tried formatting the cards with Panasonic SD Formatter v.2.0 but it made no difference.
According to the version history both cards should work:
5.5012 - support for SD cards >2GB on TT ONE
5.5022 - bug fixed for writing over the 4GB barrier
5.5105 - support for micro SDHC - only good for GOX40 models!!
5.5112 - full support for SDHC on all Tomtom models, also needed to use Navcore 8.49 and 8.410
5.5128 - needed for full support of Navcore 8.413(affects only ONE XL LIVE models-other will works with lower Navcore)
Has anyone got any suggestions? I've tried doing a reset but again that doesn't make any difference.
Many thanks for your help - its greatly appreciated!

The NavCore and the map of course. I copied it directly from the working 2Gb card.
The 4Gb Kingston card I bought from eBay is counterfeit - I thought I'd know better than buying memory cards from there. So forget that one.
The SDHC one is definitely genuine - I bought it with my Canon EOS 450D dSLR camera from John Lewis'.

Only thing I could think of is that your phone would be too old for that ,but even first generation Go models accept SDHC cards.
The red cross usually indicates that there is no Navcore on the card - or that it is not correctly installed.
Make sure your browser can see hidden and system files too - in case you missed a file.
Check the size of all selected files before and after copying.
And by the way : no real need to post the same question in different forum over the net....

I was just wondering - I've not extracted anything out of the switchfiles.zip.
I was wondering maybe I need to have a setconfig.txt with some settings?
I'm no longer answering - and why should I ?
You have no patience and post the same questions in all available forums on the net.
Learn some patience and how to use the search functions or Google!

Try formatting the card 3 times:
* In your PC's card reader, as Fat32
* Insert the card in your TT, turn it on, and navigate to the card's file letter on the PC. Format it again, even if the capacity is much less (my 8Gb SDHC initally formatted to 3.4Gb
The TomTom should now recognise the card.
* Reformat the card (quick format) on your PC's card reader - load your patched maps and it should work.
There's a lot of stuff on Google about this
willyroo: I tried what you suggested but the problem is that Windows Explorer is unable to recognise the card properly giving 'Unknown filesize' and fails to format it when its in the device.
Anyway, I tried the SanDisk Extreme III 16Gb SDHC from my Canon EOS 450D dSLR camera in my TomTom GO 300 and I couldn't believe that it actually worked and it sees the full 16Gb as well. So I'm going to just buy a new 4Gb SDHC for the GO 300.
All sorted!
