Default Finally installed my new multiswitch

Well with all the talk of roof insulation and alike thought i would finally get up in the ceiling and install my new multiswitch.

Now she is not a normal beast she is a future proof unit that allows me to connect upto 8 sat cables in and 1 terrestrial as well and she gives me 12 outputs.

Now the beauty about her is that she has a inbuilt discq switch as well

The reason i grabbed this is for dual tuner setup it has allowed me to turn each sat and terrestrial cable i had running into each room into 1 x sat and 1 x terrestrial on each cable with the help of a diplexer on the end of each cable,

    G'Day Cobber,
Although I do not have one of those to play with, my understanding of their operation will leave you disappointed as to their capability.
Essentially they are designed for two Satellites, with Hi and Lo band each with H and V plus the Terrestrial.
The Satellite inputs are fixed at 13V & 18V and 22KHz ON & OFF.

The STB switching merely selects one of those inputs.
It does not change the state of any of those inputs.
DiSEqC is not fed through from output to input.
You may of course put different Satellites on various inputs if say one has all V Transponders and the other all H. Same with the Lo and Hi band.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

it has 4 x v and 4 x h inputs all switched i just tested watching one satellite and recorded another

also had 4 other set top units watching different channels on different transponders all at the same time

one was on vertical that i was watching the other was on horizontal

    Also i did say it allows my to input 8 sat cable's not 8 sat's so to be picky that is 4 sat's with 1 x h and 1 x v each
which inturn has one cable running from the switch to the decoder .

i then just scanned in c1 d2 and pas8 and it went from channel to channel and sat to sat as per normal

it does a bit more than you think as i did research it first

The true test to corroborate what I have said is to put a Multimeter on any one of the inputs and see if you can change it between 13V and 18V from V and H transponders on the STB.

the setop unit is connected directly to the unit i change channel from a v to a h and wow picture then then i change from tv1 to italian news and wow pictures straight away ohh and they are on different sat's and polarity.

then unit i was testing with ( not mine ) has 2 tuners so i connected another cable to it and while i watched the Olympics on c1 i recorded chilli on pas 8
    with its dual tuners.

so i dare say i am not disappointed as it did exactly what i wanted it to do

so all it was for me was to have dual lnb then connect as per a normal switch but with 3 sats, then in the decoder i assigned the discq settings as if i had one installed like before

Very nice musltiswitch. I've been eyeing similar ones on ebay, but I've never been quite sure of how you'd select the settings to handle both system 1 and 2? Would you be able to explain for our information?

    Thank in advance.

So am I right in thinking that you direct as follows:

Diseqc A with 0Hz to get the Sat's LNB connected to ports 1/2 from the left through.
Diseqc B with 22kHz to get the Sat's LNB connected to ports 3/4 from the left through.
Diseqc C with 0Hz to get the Sat's LNB connected to ports 6/7 from the left through.
Diseqc D with 22kHz to get the Sat's LNB connected to ports 8/9 from the left through.

    Cheers,

    Jim.....

    pretty close

    1 - 2 = Diseqc a 13v / 0 & 18v / 0

    3 & 4 = Diseqc b 13v / 22hz & 18v / 22hz

    5 & 6 = Diseqc c 13v / 0 + disecq2.0 & 18v / 0 + disecq2.0

    7 & 8 = Diseqc d 13v / 22hz + disecq2.0 & 18v / 22hz+disecq2.0

So, does that mean you cant use universal LNB's?

Just a though though, if you had a universal LNB for say I701 connected to a "0khz" port you should still be able to pickup the low band frequencies eg 11610?

in the destruction booklet it says

" if using ku-band lnb please dont use dual L.O lnb, in that case only low L.O frequency can work well , the high L.O frequency can not work.

please use suitable one L.O lnb according to frequency of channels

so from what i can make of that i would say if it carries high and low you would need a single for each

Reading what you wrote, it seams that universal LNB's are fine provided your channells are in the low band, so I701 frequencies >~12000 would be fine.

Despite you editing your posts, that it does what you wanted, it now transpires that what I posted is absolutely correct.
It is designed for two Satellites, but with limitations, could be used for more.
It certainly cannot, as you have admitted, be used as a panacea for eight Satellites as was inferred in the original post.
Nevertheless a handy piece of gear, but you need to be cognizant of the limitations.
May I remind you that you were asked for the source and price.
    The manufacturer is :-
Haven't checked availability and local price! Do tell.

mate where do you get 2 sats , it will do 4 with each supplying a horizontal and vertical feed each

but hey your math must be different to mine 8 divided by 2 = 4 in my world

and in my initial post i said 8 SAT CABLES NOT 8 SATELLITES the edit was to fix the stupid image i uploaded.

so i am sitting here with one decoder with one cable connected to my switch and i am currently able to change from channel to channel on 3 yes THREE satalites so where is the only 2 you are going on about.

as for price its around the 250-300 mark
