    Default Satellite Meters

There are a few nice digital ones on the market from $300 for the TF900, $500 for the Trimax and then upwards from there.
What are the essential features and measurements a professional installer looks for?
I see the cheaper units don't support diseqc.
Some of you pro's are mentioning measurements of:
    BER
    MER
    S/N
    C/N

Is there any more? What are essential? I always like Signal and Quality lol!

    Cheers,
    Leroy

    TF’s, won’t do:-

    1. Spectrum analyzer function useless. The scanning refresh rate is slow. When you move the dish you need to wait a few seconds for the spectrum to catch up

    2. Check for Terrestrial Interferenc, optimize you cross pole,

    3. Trouble shooting check LNB gain cable shorts.

    4. Won’t read DVB S2 8PSK

At that price level a simple meter to find satellite, and give you BER/SNR they will do the job.

They new Swedish Satelook is over $1000 covers above 1 to 4. Expect a few Chinese made to become available later this year with faster spectrum and DVB-S2.

Hi Leroy, I just got a First Strike meter Friday,

Not tried it yet, it's supposed to have very fast response time.

My SF3000 is a bit long in the tooth and the screen legibility is woeful.

    I shoot for best S/N

The First Strike meter kavakid is talking about is quiet good with a fast response time. They are asking $489 for it

I have one. Got it from one of our members here, comtj.
His for sale thread on them is here ->

Thanks everybody. It is a good meter as this price.
    It is doesn't support DisEqc.
However, it does support 22kHz Switch.
It is means that if your network has one 22kHz Switch or if you use Universal LNBs, you can use this meter.
Signal, Quality, and Error Rate all support.
If you want, just PM me. I think I can give you the English Manual.
Shit! Bigpond told me that is ADSL2+!!!!

Universal LNB is a kind of LNB which was working on two bands. One band is 10.7-11.8GHz, and the other is 11.6-12.7GHz. 22kHz tone can switch between the two bands. If you want search any freq between 10.7-11.8GHz, please turn off 22kHz and set LO to 9.75GHz. And also, if you need search any freq between 11.6-12.7GHz, please turn on 22kHz and set LO to 10.6GHz.

    Easy!!!!!
