Has someone got a link to a Oscam tar.gz file that works with Ubuntu 8.04. I have loaded 8.04 to PC and working well. Buggered if I can load or create folders for Oscam. Directory structure seems to be slightly different to what I'm reading here. The Tut's I have read all tend to conflict and all are different. Been on windows too long.
Cheers, Saintaholic
better to compile it.
Datalane -
Im using mgcam as client, I still can't watch the 10 mins at begining and end of Fbo, nor order movies? Is there a setting I may have missed?
also.
console access via oscams webif.
To access the webif i need to add my fixed ip address that ill be accessing it FROM to the allowed config.
Done this and it works well.
But
This is ok when im at home as the machines local but my telstra dongle gives a DHCP address each time so im unable to enter a fixed ip in when not at home.
How do i overcome this?
Do i have to RDP to another pc at home then access oscams webif from that pc located at a fixed ip?
Loving this learning curve

Hi,
what does the dongle do? Is it just a modem? I suppose that if that's the case, you have some kind of separate router, will it be a separatte box or PC?
What you need to do is allow the webif port in your firewall and redirect it to your oscam box IP in NAT. Try to set httpallowed = 1 and see what happens.
Did not tested this, but give it a try.
Make sure you have your user and pass set if you open oscam to the internet.
Cheers

Thanks mborkp and ozblacknight.
I dont think i clarafied my self. sorry.
My house has static ip address "exetel". The lap top and dongle used to access my house when im remote is a DHCP client from telstra Server.
Oscam requires you to enter the ip address of the computer that you will USE TO ACCESS its webif. even tho it still asks for a user and pass, it wont even let you get there if you havent entered YOUR ip into its "allow" trusted config so you can get access.
How can i overcome this or do i just RDP into a computer thats local to the server and has ITS ip entered into "allow" config.

even better , setup logmein free and use the remote desktop feature
also, httpallowed = 1 works for webif. I wander if this will allow connection from any IP. Never tried to connect remotely with this.
Cheers

It becomes disconnected even 'staying' inserted. Tried it with and without card, it is the same.
Then when I run: oscam -b it starts but then

good, thanks, worked removing that bitch
jtc 2005,
fanstastic works for me and I have adapted this to enable omnikey which gives me significant improvement in emm times versus smargo.
My only issue is that using your method does not seem to install / configure web interface. Can you please suggest how to get web interface installed /configured /working. Thanks M8 for great work.
Hi guys, I'm a Windows Media Center user who was previously using NewCS (Windows version), but I was unable to view Foxtel's HD channels with NewCS. I initially tried OSCam with Cygwin to get it working, but the times were too slow, so I had to follow your tute to get OSCam installed in Ubuntu.
It's been working pretty well for me, but sometimes, I encounter this issue:
2010/04/15 7:52:33 **** c02 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/72:****): found (305 ms) by fx
2010/04/15 7:52:43 **** c01 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/5A:****): found (273 ms) by fx
2010/04/15 7:52:43 **** c02 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/72:****): found (305 ms) by fx
2010/04/15 7:52:53 **** c01 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/5A:****): not found (139 ms)
2010/04/15 7:52:53 **** c02 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/72:****): found (306 ms) by fx
2010/04/15 7:53:03 **** c01 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/5A:****): found (273 ms) by fx
2010/04/15 7:53:03 **** c02 LNB1 (096C&000000/****/72:****): found (306 ms) by fx
That 'not found' results in 10 seconds of missing footage on my viewing/recording. Sometimes it won't happen at all for a day or 2, other times, it can happen 2-3 times in the same hour. I don't understand what's going on, or what could cause that to happen (but did notice the time was a lot quicker than the successful requests).
If it matters: it's an orange card, and the same problem exists regardless of whether I'm running it in a Ubuntu VM or a physical machine running Ubuntu. And I didn't experience anything like this with NewCS. My card reader is a USB -> serial converter by FTDI.
Thanks.
I've read about this oscam in a few other threads supposedly being a better alternative than NewCS + SASC-NG for foxtel DVB-C.
I was wondering if anyone can speak from experience or at least speak generally about the virtues of oscam and why it's better than newcs.
Thank-you very much.
