Default Best Config for Gamma with DM500s - no CS required

... probably been covered here already .. sorry if it has ... but I was wondering what would be best config with gemini image for the DM500s with a gamma running off a JayCar MKII as phoenix ?

... don't need to run CS - that's probably only difference - but I guess you would still need to set-up CCcam (or similar) as a client <-> server?

... any configs / pointers would be much appreciated for AU to be ticking over for the gamma

    Cheers

you will need to run CS to use a gamma on a 500s.

    no way around that.

It needs to be setup as a server and client to itself because of the phoenix.

and since 500s dont work with a gamma in the internal slot, thats the only way.

Cccam as server and client is your best bet, as it now will keep card emk updates working.

    Tnx for the update ...

... the DM is already here - so HM is currently not an option - but I see you point for a buit-in card slot solution ...

... as it now will keep card emk updates working ...
not sure what you mean by this ... are you refering to a new version or configuration of CCcam? ... I know it was almost 100% - but occasionaly would loose an update ... has this been 'fixed' ??

BTW ... is there a good image - PLi preferebly (for ease of recording via NAS) ... that has latest setup preconfigured for gamma / pheonix ?

any help with this would be most welcome

Ccam 2.08 and attach your reader to the dream.

    You could try this Cccam.cfg

    SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000
    WEBINFO USERNAME : admin
    WEBINFO PASSWORD : blahblah
    WEBINFO LISTEN PORT : 16001
    NEWCAMD CONF: yes
    SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0
    CAMKEY: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    CAMDATA: /dev/tts/0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    ... will have a go

... have you got a link to CCcam 2.08? ... or should I go to the usual places ...

I found most distributions are .zips with the bins only ... would be nice to get a DM .tar that will install with all the scripts

    Cheers

    thanks z80

    - got the file and installed it - my DM was offline - I did not spot it until I needed to do a download - did not bother about it until now - so 'fixed' it

... with regard to a basic set-up for server <-> clinet ... what .cfg's do actualy need configuring?

... there is considerable confusion on this subject ... I noticed from other posts that many have detailed configurations for things which are not being used ...

... I come from the school ... if you don't need it - don't use it ... it makes things simple and easy to understand

... so any tips for a basic client <-> server setup with /dev/tts/0 (my serial pheonix) would be most welcome ...

I'm sure others would find this useful also ...

    Cheers

What's my post invisible? You don't need server/client anything. Take all the crap out of Cccam.cfg and for a basic setup just put only the config above in there.

Plug your phoenix reader in and pics!

If you want to share it to a client just add one or more F: lines in.

Default what about the client end?

Would the clients use the same N: line as per attaching to Newcs?
I noticed that sometimes extra 'parameters' are used after the "....13 14" des key. Are these extra bits mandatory for CCCam as the server?

    Thanks

The client uses the following line:

    C: IP/Domain PORT USER PASSWORD

    No DES key required.

Hi Warbo ... thanks for your post ...

YES ... I did read it and managed to get CCcam 2.0.8 up and running

... unfortunately don't have access to gamma at this moment - so could not test ...

Your config sure takes my ' ..old school ..' statement to task - you definately cut the crap out of the config

... not too familiar with the CCcam configurations - or should I say - logic behind them

    - I am keen to learn from any inputs ... hence soliciting z80's input on this also ... NO intention to ignore your post and sorry if it came accross that way

.. your config suggestion is SET and will be my first (and hopefully last in relation to this basic setup) attempt to get the gamma going once it lands in my hand

    Thanks Warbo!

I was using z80's pli image for CS which uses newcs and ccam which worked well. But I'm trying to get ccam running as the server now instead of newcs for obvious reasons.

I have removed newcs and upgraded to 2.0.8 cccam. I also replaced my config file for cccam with warbo one above. But now I'm get nothing. I have added a f: for my other dreambox and in that other box I replaced the ccam.cfg with a c: IP user pass . Is there something else I have to do to get both boxes working?

    Thanks

It should just work decapper. Even without any f: or c: lines, that config should get you pics on the dream that the phoenix is attached to.

I haven't tried it on a dm500s but the config works on a dm7020 using pli and it works on a linux pc, so I can't see why it would be different on a dm500s.

If you log into cccams web interface, is the card being recognised?

Still no go. Once I put your config in, I loose the buttons under the web config. All I get is

. I even try like but still nothing

Installed PLI image - ftp into var/etc and open ccam.cfg then copied warbo config settings inside cfg file deleting everything else. transfered them back. Telnet into dream and only get the

    no or unknown card inserted
Card reader is a jaycar mkII and have it set 6mhz with button in.

    Is all this correct please?
