Ok got another problem. With the 520 it has internal storage but not enough for the maps, so im using a 2gb SD card which ive copied the USA maps onto but when I run fast activate from the route of the sd card it seems to work but then asks for drive letter on tomtom device and only has the option of the internal memory which is drive H and not drive G which is the memory card in the device so now when I use "switch maps" on the device I get an erro that I cannot use these maps which is probably because its not patched properly or something.

    What am I doing wrong?

    thanks
You need to copy the ttgo.bif file from the internal memory onto the SD card before running FastActivate from the root of the SD card. Then confirm if a new .dct file was created in the map folder.

That's because FastActivate is trying to patch the navcore and is looking for this file in the SD card. You don't need to run this option again if you have already patched the navcore.

Just to make sure, remove the SD card and run FastActivate from the internal memory but this time only press on the 3rd button "ttsystem/PNDNavigator". This will patch your navcore.

Now remove your TomTom from the pc and power it on.

    You're welcome. Well done!

You can test the other map by doing a demo route. In the device menu, go to prepare a route, pick some random addresses and let it run in normal time. Or you can even browse the map. The menu has this option too.

FastActivate v1.8.8.8 released 2/7/2012. Download links:

    - Sendspace

    - FileFactory

    - Austech's Filebox

NOTE: This latest version does not contain the update meta option anymore. The meta button does not work on older versions either.
However this version does contain all the latest meta codes up to 2/7/2012.

Is there any reason for no more meta updates?

One reason is having to store/pay the data on a server, but the main reason is that currently there are simply no new meta codes coming.
We have to wait for users that own a map to share their data and create the meta code.

I have previously successfully used FastActivate but I have a couple of basic questions...sorry!!!

    - Do you need a "live" internet connection to run FastActivate. Is something being extracted from a server when you patch a map?

    - I am using version v1.8.8.5 with integrated meta.txt dated 12.03.2012 - this was the latest version when I was installing a new navcore and map back in March. If I plan on just using the same identical map and navcore which worked OK in March on other devices, can I just carry on using version v1.8.8.5?

    Thanks

    1) Not anymore. Internet connection was only needed to update the meta, but that can't be done anymore, as mentioned in post #129.

    2) Yes, it will still work if the meta didn't need updating. Still though, it's always recommended to use the latest version.

Links are alive and still working. Obviously you are clicking on the wrong thing.
In Sendspace, click where it says: Click here to start download from sendspace.
Can't make it any easier than that!

    Unhappy Fast activate fail

I have a tomtom go930. The Tomtom Home updated the device software to the latest one.
Downloaded the map of Europe 890.4222 (this is the version suggested by tomtom home for this device).
Then I downloaded the latest Fast Activate 1.8.9.0.
I patched the ttsystem and the the map.
    Result is OK.
However after restart tomtom say "no map found"...
I repeated from start (delete all files from tomtom etc) result is same.
    Any idea?

I gave a 3rd try and now it is OK...
