What do you mean by "update map updates"?
Are saying you tried to install a new map?
If so what map and version.
Home is completely irrelevant for your device and patching is only for the device simulation - all other things work without patching Home!
You can only patch the DLL if you already used the simulation with the installed Navcore, so don't bother if you don't need the "Operate my Device" fundtion in Home.
"Not working" is nothing we can work with, we need specific infos like:
1. Device and model
2. Navcore version
3. Bootloader version number
4. Map and version number
5. Detailed info on what you did, what is working and most importantly error messages you get from the tools, device or Home

Wrongly worded i suppose...i mean the TomTom Services where you can download updates. For some reason when I try to open that service it pops up a window saying it is not currently available...try again later. Yet when I do that update via TomTom Home it says download successful, then next windows says i still have 2x mapshare updates to install. never did that before with earlier maps and was always able to patch the tomtom home via fastactivate...not now
Thats two different systems
If you want to use the Live services on the device you need:
1. subscription
2. active Sim in the device or a paired phone for devices without Sim
3. good connection, so no chance for updates in some rural areas for example
But is it say "currently" I would suspect the service will get active again.
Best option if all oter fail is to contact the TT support and to let them check your subscription and when the device last got a connection.

Ok on that, but never had any subscription before so why now? Maybe they have changed their plans. Anyway no big deal as the updates have no details so you wouldn't know what was changed anyway.
Thanks for your reply and your navcore is working fine
The problem seems to be with TomTom as shown on
If you read this discussion it has been going on for a while now with many people, so nothing to do with my Navcore or map.
They may solve it soon....so they (tomtom) say
When I was in TomTom home and the mapshare didn't work it came back with a message saying" I had an invalid version of the tomtom application installed on your device"
Did try another navcore but still no mapshare updates so don't think that reply was correct. They seem to install ok but the same message comes back saying I have mapshare updates to install. Now up to 4 here

I would not even bother with the map share stuff.
Quite often it takes TT years to fix an error and every three months we get new maps anyway.
As for the map share downloads in general:
It takes TT about 3 weeks for the major maps to supply the first corrections, some maps over a month.
During that time you might even see messages that you should get updates but when you check it comes back with an error or simply nothing at all.
TT also checks if the map and NC is correct and quite often blocks updates if they don't match.
The last time I used Home for my device was about 3 years ago
If you can't use the updates over a connected mobile phone on your TT it might just be that the problem is the same - something does not entirely match up.

With new maps constantly released every 3 months, I wouldn't bother with Mapshare updates either. Therefore TomTom HOME is not really needed, except for updating QuickGPSfix - but even then there is a way to update that without using Home

FastActivate update 13.02.2013
Easy, Fast and Reliable
Instructions:
Menu items:1. Plug your tomtom device with the USB to your PC or card reader
2. Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device internal or SD-Card ROOT directory (recommended) or desktop or any other place
3. Run "FastActivate.exe"
4. Use menu buttons what you need see menu items help.
5. Done...
Notes:1. Update meta.txt
Update latest meta.txt. ( if servers not down ) You need allow wget.exe in your firewall if it asked.
If you have a new meta code what is not in the integrated or updated meta.txt (See in program for date of current meta.txt integrated and also see updated)
You must put all new meta codes in a file named META.TXT and copy it to the Device/SD-Card ROOT Directory or keep it same directory with FastActivate.exe.
2. Patch Maps, Voices, Speedcams and Fuel Prices
Patch ALL these stuff in device.
3. Patch Navcore (ttsystem or PNDNavigator)
Patch Your Navcore with this it is needed for use patched maps. Wait a result it will tell you when done.
4. Patch TomTom HOME
This works automatic and no need to search for any files just wait and it will tell you when done.
If you use this you need first use TomTom HOME "Operate my Device" option, that download your profile files then close HOME and patch it.
5. RunMeForCode (Create a meta/blowfish code from genuine map)
You can create meta code with this button...you have to be the original owner of the map.
Remember... meta data not contain any personal information from you or your device. It is safe to share
6. Update QuickGPSfix (Fix your GPS position)
Your TomTom device uses the signals of at least 4 satellites to find out where you are. To start navigating, it needs to know exactly where each satellite is.
So start your journey faster with TomTom QuickGPSfix button
7. My Device Info
This is just info from device what others need if you ask help eg. some forums.
Note 1:
If you get trouble running the .exe then "right click and run as administrator" If you use Wince and mapshare p a t c h copy ttnavigator.bif to ttgo.ori
Note 2:
If you are doing a fresh install on internal memory of navcore and map then you will need to restart the unit once after the installation of navcore
Before you try and patch the map because your unit will then generate the needed ttgo.bif file for the keygen to read. Also if you are installing to a sd card rather than the internal memory the same applies you will need to insert the sd card into the tomtom device and reboot before you patch the map so it generates the needed ttgo.bif file.
Note 3:
Program works with TomTom PC emulator.

Hi guys,
First of all thanks for sharing all of your knowledge on this forum, very helpful stuff and highly appreciated
I've followed the guide here () to get a clean updated install, and I'm up to the FastActivate step.
When I run FastActivate I can patch my maps/voice/speedcams fine, but when trying to patch ttsystem/PNDNavigator it just says "Please wait.." and then closes very shortly afterwards.
I've got a GO 720 and it's running the latest version of Navcore available from TomTom Home - v9.465, as per the above guide I backed up all my data and deleted it off the internal drive, and I'm using a 2GB SD card which I've set to install everything to in TomTom Home. I've copied the FastActivate.exe to the root of my SD card and it just fails as above when trying to patch ttsystem. I can verify that I do have a ttsystem file, and it looks like FastActivate.exe has made a duplicate of it named 'Original_ttsystem' too - I've run MD5 comparison on the two files and they're identical, so it seems FastActivate fails to patch my ttsystem file.
I also tried EasyActivator6.14 and that fails to patch ttsystem also, so I'm a bit stuck.
If you guys have any ideas then great - otherwise I'll format the SD card and start again and hope for the best I guess
Cheers!
P.S. I have a TomTom GO 730 that I've run through this process with and it all worked fine, but that was about a year ago on an older version of NavCore.
