    Default C band dish

Is there anyway to get the C band without the 2.3m dish?

What satellite/service are you after? You might get away with a smaller dish depending on the services you are trying to receive.

Actually, you could setup a phased array of 20 or 30 small dishes. That may work. Check out the Allen Telescope Array for SETI!

    Why not?

Satcom in Singapore sell a phase array antenna (not a dish) for mobile C-band TV reception:
Model: PHA-MDBS series TV receiving only
    C band: 3.4 GHz ~ 4.2 GHz

Anyway, I was just toying with zman2...
