I'm not sure if this is true, but i think i read before the great flood that a goldie will burn out your front slot on the dreambox.
Anyone confirm this plz?

I haven't tried. Was not game
I had a goldie working fine in my DM500 a while ago, before I extracted out the softkeys and to prove it worked.. Gbox was fine (one of the few softcams I found that ran an I1 goldie!)
ok so mythbusted
Well I was setting the goldie up for a mate, who said "can I get this going in your box", I told him the goldie wasn't necessary, but to prove a point I messed around and got it working. GBox was especially nice since when I ran it in debug mode it gave me the PMK and PK as part of the debug logging and updated the Goldie with the new PK's. Made adding the PMK for CCcam 2.0.0 very straight forward. Not sure what has happened post EMK roll... haven't watched Aurora for a while now.
So is anyone running a Goldie in DM7000 or DM7020 slots with any luck?
I remember back in the IR1 days i had it running for a day or so before i "think" it cooked my internal pic reader, no card has ever worked in there since, and that was 5 years ago.
There used to be stickys on forum headers everywhere about not running a non provider card in the DM7000 for this very reason. And i do remember feeling the heat on my Goldie when i pulled it out too... it was HOT, could not touch your lips with it.
Back in the day, Mr. Bandwidth used to bring this point up a lot.
I would be interested to here if current day uses are having more luck?

Gold cards CAN overheat in the internal card reader of a Dream and should'nt be used for this reason.
There's many different makes of gold card, some will burn out at 6mhz, some are apparently rated for 20mhz operation.
gbox and a goldie with v17 work fine in the slot in a dm7020.
