run the mpeg file through vlc and convert it to .ts (takes 10 seconds)
file / wizard / transcode / next / choose / browse to mpg file / select mpg file / ok / next / next / mpeg ts / next / choose where to save and call it xxx.ts/finnish
I mainly use my dreambox 7020 to watch tv shows and movies i've downloaded and converted to mpeg2.
I have an issue which only shows up in longer programs ie it happens in movies, but not tv shows (even 40 min shows).
After about 40-50 mins i will lose audio, i just rewind 1 second and play and it's back. This happens 2 or 3 times in a movie, and it's not a error at a specific spot in the file, if i fast-forward/rewind to where it happens it can play through the glitched area fine.
I use winavi 7.1 with 44100/192000 audio sample rate/bitrate for the encodes (1 single file).

Just wondering if there is an easy fix.

Wow 666, i never knew you could do that. Sounds brilliant. I just converted a 900Mb avi to DVD to play on Dreambox yesterday as i couldn't find a good avi to .ts programme.
Will VLC convert other files like avi to ts? Actually just tried it, it worked but video wasn't handled very well
cheers and thanks for the great tip

Would be interesting for you to try another transcoding software and see if that made any difference? Just a thought
ocean i use winavi first to create the mpeg2 file
winavi 900meg avi to meg file = 22 minutes
vlc to create the ts from the mpeg 15 second
Brilliant, thanks mate
Geez these transcoding programmes have come a long way since i used to play with them years ago... It's all done so fast now! And Quality is good
What's the reason that .ts works better than .mpeg?
It's it better then to convert .avi straight to .ts instead of .avi -> .mpg -> .ts It appears that using WinAVI you can do it this way.
Maybe you need try , I find winavi doesnot handle video and video sync problem very well.
doesnt the dream play mpeg or mpg anyway? I'm sure it does.
